Stuck in updating loop

#1

Post by RealCodeGuy » Tue Dec 04, 2012 1:37 am

I came home tonight, turned on the HTPC and logged into Media Center and then turned on the two Echos. They both started updating until the progress bar reached 25% with the text "updating. do not unplug echo." After 10 minutes they both rebooted and now they are updating again. Did you guys release a firmware update tonight? Any suggestions on breaking out of the loop without bricking the units?

same here. Updating stuck, reboot, boots to the main Media Center menu, then reboots for update again.

Attempting to follow these steps. I also opened a case with Ceton as an extra measure.

Mine was fine earlier this evening but I turned it off when dinner was on. After that, I am in the same rebooting loop.

I will open a ticket just for good measure.

I forgot to mention that every 3rd or so reboot, mine gets far enough to contact MCE and the MCE sound comes up for one second and then it goes back to updating.

What I'm confused about is these were working fine last night. I just turned them off and went to bed. Weird... :wtf:

I am also stuck in the updating loop. I used the Echo all day today without issue. Turned it on about 40 minutes ago, and I have looped through at least 5 times already. I am currently on version 2012.1127.2101.

It connects, and then immediately goes into the Update. It gets to ~25% and then is stuck. Does still seem to be having network traffic.

Good to go. Now only if customer support would get back to me and fix my PCIe InfiniTV 4.

Same issue here.

Flopped on the couch, turned on the Echo and it started updating, progress bar hung around 25% or so for a few minutes, then it rebooted on its own, connected up to my PC (I heard the Media Center fanfare... or at least part of it), then reverted to update mode... After letting it sit for 30 minutes I powered it off and ran the recovery procedure... now I'm back at the update screen hung at 25% or so.

@Motz, Ceton devs - I'm more than happy to provide any other info you need... network setup, media setup, etc... even VPN access if you need to get into this thing and figure out what its doing.

One of the Echos that didn't come back immediately and had to be powered off and turned back on. When it booted back up I had to re-pair it with Media Center. That's kind of a drag because now I have Mce2-xxx and Mce3-xxx instead of 1 and 2. Not that big of a deal, I know later we'll be able to rename them.

EDIT: The firmware version on this one is 2012.1114.0000
