Can you set a static IP?

#1

Got my echo yesterday and was playing around with it and i was unable to locate a place to configure the network settings. Is it possible to set a static IP or must we use DHCP reservations.

...or just DHCP.

Do you have a specific reason to give the Echo a fixed address? I can't imagine one.

Currently i use static ips for my DMA2100s to support WOL. I have a Linksys router running open firmware. This router listens for ping replies from the dma2100s and sends a WOL packet to the HTPC they are associated with. I have had the time to check but i have a feeling the echo support WOL so this may be not be an issue.

We are planning to enable support for static IPs in a future software release. For now, you must use a DHCP server.

Maybe set a mac reservation and use a particular address. Not perfect, but might work if your router supports it.

I thought the Echo was supposed to do WoL itself, so you wouldn't need to use the script?
