W8 13 Row MicrosoftMediaCenter.Shell.dll for EPG Guide

#1

Hi All,

With the help of DanielMCE who is a member of the Australia MediaCenter Forum I have just finished the touches to the a new Microsoft.MediaCenter.Shell.dll for W8MC, it works for both the 32bit Pro version and x64 Pro as well. This W8 dll is 13 rows, I have also adjusted the font size & Channel number size so it is not cluttered, it also allows room for the Channel Logos to be downloaded.

PS. This simular 13 row .dll I have been running in my W7MC server for years and if you have a large TV is great.

PSS. Just a note, to swap over this .dll you need to "Take Ownership" to be able to do this, the easiest way is to intall this via this Reg Hack:-

This also works in the x64 version as well.

FYI, the guide changes will be back functioning in W8 in the next version of My Channel Logos. I'm just trying to roll up a few more things into the new release. (for those who don't want to modify system files on their own)
My Channel Logos XL: Get your Guide looking good! ~~~~ TunerSalad: Increase the 4-tuner limit in 7MC

It's nice to see 'modifications' coming along ;)

Yeah, I just wanted to get on with my 3 new conversion of W7MC to W8MC going, I also use IceTV here in Australia for the Guide info and they automaically download the Channel Logo's along with there data.

Also have 8 tuners enabled so over the coming weekend I will know if by using one of the other W8MC computers as a "Extender like" to view Recorded TV from the main W8MC in the lounge whether the 1 Min Recording problem is also in W8MC as it is with W7MC. If it is I will have to do the "Move Files" of the Recorded TV shows again as with W7MC.

On my W8 with DVB-C tuner and EIT-scanner EPG info, it doesn't work. I still have 9 rows.
Maybe because I'm using the NL-version of W8 in Holland?

You also need to replace the Microsoft.MediaCenter.Shell.dll here as well as in C:\Windows\ehome\

C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Microsoft.MediaCenter.Shell\v40_6.2.0.0_31bf385ad364e35\.....

Ok I have finally done it!

Have the new EHRES.DLL W8 x64 working, now shows the Red Recording dots in the modified Microsoft.MediaCenter.Shell.dll (13 Row) when you press record for both Recorded Tv & Recorded Tv series.

Ok now I need to find where the word "Guide" is to be able to delete it from appearing in the top right hand side when the guide is up? anyone know where to look?

Heres a screen shot of the 13 row W8 Guide:-

PS. This image is off a small monitor on my test bed W8MC Computer

When seen on a large 16:9 screen its ok, just that screen shot is off a 4:3 17 inch monitor.

Nice :). I thought it's not possible to get the categories same size. Any chance you could make a 10 row version also?
