Windows 8 broke my Ceton app!

#1

Post by rsoares28 » Thu Nov 15, 2012 2:36 pm

I have two pc's, office and htpc. ceton desktop app installed on both, companion app on my iphone 4s. I setup it up when it first came out, the ios app found both my computers over wifi and the settings were correct as i could use the app fully over wifi or 3G (remotely) for both PC'.s Of course, I had to forward port 5832 on my router for both internal IP's listed below. I also have dyndns setup to handle my dynamic IP. and static leases setup for both internal IP's. Router is a linksys 4200v1 using DDWRT.

I've since installed windows 8 on my office pc and i can no longer connect using the ios app to my office pc both wifi or remote however my htpc which is still win 7 i can connect over wifi but not over 3g.

I have the plex app for ios which still works wifi or 3g, i also have an nzb IOS app called quoch which works over wifi and 3g so i'm not sure what happened to the ceton app since i upgraded my office pc to win 8.

here are my settings on the ios app

OfficePC
Internal
IP: 192.168.1.147
port :5832

External
IP: external IP which was found using wifi setup
Port: 5832

HTPC
Internal
IP:192.168.120
Port 5832

External
IP: external IP found during wifi setup
Port 5832

Since it stopped working ive tried subsituting my external IP for my DYNDNS hostname and it still wont connect. any advice?

Thanks for the reply. So i fixed the problem with my htpc which is still win 7. I changed the port to make it different from the office pc and now i can connect both over wifi and 3G. Still nothing with the office win 8 pc but as stated its a known issue and being worked on.

Thanks
