Mini Wireless Media Keyboard with Touchpad
I found this during a completely unrelated search:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/mini-keyboard-w ... tre-517250
It looks intresting, especially the Multi-touch and swipe compatibility. My question is, has anyone got one and what is it like in action? The reviews seem fairly good.

I've had one for maybe 6 months. I use on my laptop, mostly in the bedroom. It works well with 2 issues. There's no Windows key which sometimes annoying. And I'd pay a lot more to have it backlit. There are more reviews on Amazon

Seems to be by a company called Ortek. They actually supply the same model but with a backlit version too.

I can't find any backlit ones in the UK though?

A bit of a difference in price though! I guess you get what you pay for but this is out of my league

Take a look at the Logitech K400. It sometimes goes on sale for $29.99 from Amazon, Newegg, Staples, etc. Several people on the forums like these keyboards. It is not a mini but is smaller than a standard size keyboard. Most people, including myself, seem to be getting at least a 20' working range. Take a look at the pictures on Amazon for a size comparison.

+1 on the K400. I have no problems at 15 feet, and I never have problems if the keyboard isn't facing the computer.

I was looking at this, also found by a completely unrelated search today. It looks pretty cool, with MCE hotkeys and a Windows start button, Not sure about swipe commands though??

It's funny what you come across when you have never seen anything like it before now! Was just looking at the Logitech K400 on Amazon and in related products was this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Perixx-PERIPAD- ... 584&sr=8-1
Looks like it could actually be the ideal product? Might be worth a punt at that price!

doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some of the previously mentioned remotes, but I've used this in good standing for years, great form factor IMHO

That Lenovo looks like it has a small touch panel rather than a track ball, and it says it's backlit? Is it a new model? I gave my original Lenovo mini keyboard away, because I never used it once I got an IOGEAR GKM561R.

I have two of these and really like them. The track ball will start acting up after about a year. I found if you take the 10 or so screws off the back the top will lift off and you can clean it out with compressed air. Good as new!foxwood wrote:That Lenovo looks like it has a small touch panel rather than a track ball, and it says it's backlit? Is it a new model? no multi touch but the directional pad on the upper right has a switch and you can switch from a d-pad or a mouse touch pad. it's pretty nice.. look for refirbished ones. try to google logitech vip store, general public might have access with a simple search there are refurbs for under 100. if i'ts to expensive try http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/cont ... K56JIdlltg i heard this one is really good. i think you can find them for under $50 on logicbuy.com or ebayCogZog wrote:Does this have multi-touch and swipe capability?stackz07 wrote:This is what i use. http://www.ebay.com/itm/LOGITECH-DINOVO ... 43b60ba1f3 love it

the newer model has backlit keys, which was a real eye-saver and deal-maker for me

How is the range on the IOGEAR? When I was previously looking at wireless keyboards most advertised "up to" a 33 foot or 10 meter range. But reading various user comments it seems most people were typically getting only 7-10 feet on most keyboards.

I've never tried it beyond 7 feet or so - that's as far as I sit from my TV. If I remember, I'll do some tests over the weekend.Mike88 wrote:How is the range on the IOGEAR? I occasionally use it up to 15' away with the PC in another room.Mike88 wrote:How is the range on the IOGEAR? Thanks, that's good to know. I'm going to keep that keyboard in mind for the next one.

I use this one. It works fine. It's about the same size as a laptop keyboard, so it fits perfectly on my lap. The touch pad is a multi-touch pad. Reception is OK as long as the RF dongle is placed in the front of the PC, or use a USB extension cable so that the dongle is not hidden behind the PC.
