I'm sure you guy's heard that Sinofsky resigned from Microsoft. His successor is said to have a much more integrationist approach so I'm hopeful she'll bring WMC back into the fold in the upcoming Windows 8 update in 2013 or Windows 9.
Personally I think Sinofsky's approach was very shortsighted, WMC already provides what Google is dying to achieve with Google TV. WMC just needs better integration with internet streaming ala Hulu etc, some additional tweaks to tuner support, probably browser support and they can metro style the UI if they want.
I'm sure his ambivalence to WMC led to Ceton's decision to shelve the Ceton Q, let's see what happens now.

Not a chance in Hell
My 00000001 bit.

-Now maybe, just maybe, 'Metro' (I like calling it that) will get a plugin for TV with tuner support and we could all go off in another tangent. That would be nice, but I don't expect to see anything for a few years.

The chance that WMC will be returned to W8.5 or W9 is infinitesimally small. WMC is built in code that is long past its sell-by date, and which, I suspect, only a few people on the planet even understand, let alone are capable of supporting.
Now, the functionality of WMC is another beast entirely. That needs to be delivered. Currently, there's nothing in the Metro/Modern Apps that comes close. It would be nice to believe that Microsoft could deliver such an animal from their internal resources. But then again, looking at the miserable offerings they've managed to produce for their other media apps, I have little belief at all that they will deliver anything of value.

I can't comment on Sinofsky's personality, but I will say that when I sent an email to Mr. Sinfosky regarding my concern about Media Center not being in an earlier release of W8, he responded quickly, and positively. Ultimately, he released an entire post about WMC. I appreciated that fact that he was not ignoring the media center community. I'll also say that Sinofsky himself uses media center at home, so he was somewhat invested in keeping media center around.
I don't agree with many of his decisions (W8 start menu, for example), but I liked that he was accessible to the public.

+1 to makryger.
And, I think that crawfish was saying that this thread will grow to 50 pages.

That would definitely buck the trend of the length of the thread growing proportionally to its pointlessness.STC wrote:Bah! I was going for something way more cryptic...
I'd say 1 page

Sinofsky executed the most used management tool in the kit. Be the pioneer but leave before you have to be held accountable.
