I'll be picking up a Lumia 920 around Xmas time.. So it won't be me in line for an iPhone. They are a well made phone there is no denying that, it just feels dated now to me the interface just doesn't compare to WP.
I think MS is on the right track with windows phone .. Hopefully its well received later this year.

iOS is crying out for an interface refresh. With v4.x even Android's interface doesn't completely suck anymore.
Out of interest, why the Lumia 920 and not the HTC 8X?

They can't update the interface. Millions of simpletons that currently manage to use it would lose their minds.mark1234 wrote:iOS is crying out for an interface refresh. With v4.x even Android's interface doesn't completely suck anymore.

I really like the HTC 8X especially since I'm a music lover.. Beats audio I am sure will be awesome. The camera in the 920 with pure view is intriguing as well as the over all design of the phone, wireless charging.. Plus the software package Nokia brings to windows phone is an added bonus. They seem to have their stuff together as far as pushing out updates in short order to fix bugs etc. If the Nokia had beats audio It would be the perfect device. I am sure I'll look at both but I'm still leaning toward nokia at the moment.

Of the mid-range devices the Lumia 820 beats the HTC 8S everytime, no contest. But at the high end I think the Lumia 920 and HTX 8X are very similar. The only real difference is the ongoing support. Here Nokia have proved themselves committed to supporting WP, where HTC didn't with WP7 - given the beating they are taking in the Android market they may be more supportive of WP8 though.
Nokia Music is a big plus for the Nokia side as well I think and would save £10/month of Spotify cost.
I don't see the Samsung Ativ S competing at all. It's specs aren't spectacular and with the success they are having with Android they have no motivation to support WP so much. But then, to be fair, I don't see WP8 competing as a whole anyway. WP7 is great, but hasn't sold at all.
My contract doesn't run out till March next year anyway, so I've got time to see if HTC do offer decent WP8 support.

I have a Samsung Focus S.. Its been a pretty good phone..not perfect but ok. I wish I had waited for the lumia 900 though..but now that the 920 is coming I am much more interested in that phone plus the software bump to WP8.. I really like the new look of WP8 the screen layout is much better and adjustable tile size is a big plus. I'll be looking at upgrading my phone as well as the wife's around Christmas time here.. It will give me a few months to see how well the HTC does vs. NOKIA's 920 and how well they support each device.
