It doesn't seem that clear, the first post just mentioned supporting My Movies. In any case, I hope they are working on all of it.

I think the name "My Media Center" confuses a lot of people. My Media Center is the name of the smartphone/tablet app, but it could also be how one refers to their Media Center PC.foxwood wrote:The thread is in the "My Media Center Setup & Troubleshooting" forum.nathagt wrote:It doesn't seem that clear, the first post just mentioned supporting My Movies. I'm new to this site (been using MyMovies for years though), so the bottom line is it will not work on your Echo product? Was going to purchase some extenders, looks like I will be building some HTPC's...

@Jer739 - that's correct, transcoding of media does not work even though Echo specifications state that it will play .mpg files like the one MyMovies encodes. The interface itself works perfectly, but playback never starts. This isn't just a MyMovies issue, it affects playback of many different video formats. Some Echo users have been successful in getting media to play on the Echo using specific codec/container combinations but I'm not going to re-encode my library when the XBOX 360 can do all this just fine. My Echo is now just sitting on the kitchen table unplugged.

Thanks for the update on this. I know this if off topic, but I recently borrowed a xbox 360 to test this as an extender, purchased the points to enable the transcoding feature in mymovies, but playback is choppy and cpu usage on server (intel dual core 2.5 with 8gb ram running raid 5 array) is 80-100%... Is there some kind of update to this transcoding feature, I can easily play 3+ movies at once on dedicated HTPC boxes... Or even devices like the WD TV Live plays flawlessly. My collection is DVD rips in ISO format, each in a separate folder. I know its not a bandwidth issue since the CPU usage spikes and streaming other ways plays flawlessly. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance!!

That sounds like a network issue. How is the XBOX connected to your network? I would post in the my movies forum if you haven't already. All of my movies are in VOB format and they playback flawlessly. One other thing to consider is my movies creates a temp .mpg file on the PC that's doing the transcoding. For me that's a 3 GB/s solid state drive. If you have a slower drive I guess that could be a factor as well.

Thanks, I will look into the flow control settings. The fact that the CPU is maxing out makes me lean towards the transcoding process, so I am wondering if there are any updates to this. I can play videos flawlessly on other HTPCs running MCE, and WD TV Live with little CPU usage and 10-20% bandwidth used.

MyMovies releases updates fairly often, the current build is 4.05 Build 6 I believe. However, I have not seen anything in the release notes about updates to transcoding. Your other HTPCs and WD TV Live are not playing a transcoded stream, they are likely playing the actual file so that doesn't mean much. What software are you using to mount the ISO image?

If I were you, I would try ripping one movie to VOB and try to stream that. See if you get the same results. You could also try with an .mkv file or any other file that isn't in the direct playback list.
