Ceton Echo Extender Beta offer

#1

Post by jlange » Wed Aug 29, 2012 12:08 am

Hello all, anyone else receive a beta invite to test the Echo today? I'm not sure if it's something I'm interested in since there seems to be no perk to beta testing. You pay full price for the device and test it for them and in turn they offer you....

If I didn't already have an Xbox on TV I would be more inclined to participate and I'm also curious about the performance but it seems like Ceton could provide a discount or some additional perk. Maybe their beta testing list is so deep they figure they don't need to offer incentives. Any thoughts?

Beta Details
The Ceton Extender Beta is a paid beta program. By participating in the beta:
-You agree to purchase a Ceton Extender for $179.00 when the beta program starts in September.
-Upon payment, we will send you a Ceton Extender device for testing. There is no additional charge for shipping.
-You will have access to a special beta forum and support during the beta period.
-You will receive the final Ceton Extender software at NO additional cost once it is released.
-Your Extender will have Ceton warranty coverage for 12 months after general availability.
- You agree to really put the Ceton Extender through its paces and provide us feedback on your experience during the beta program.

If you are unsure about participating due to the price, please cancel out now. There are a lot of people that want to get there hands on the Echo early and are willing to pay for the chance.

No maybe about it. There is a long waiting list of people ready to hand over money. I understand why some people would not be interested. I think this such a niche market that it really wouldn't make sense to give away or severely discount a large number of items. I fully planned on buying a Ceton extender as soon as it was released anyway, so to get one early is icing on the cake.

Yep. If anyone wants to give their opportunity to me, I'll gladly pay the price of admission.

I'm pretty certain the agreement for a beta unit will forbid selling the unit until the extenders have launched, so make sure any participants read it carefully before entering into such an agreement.

I'm still totally in and will enjoy it. Would just love some kinda "thanks for helping us make it better" - 10% off? 15% off :)

It's ok though. I get it.
