Just a thought. I think an OnLive plugin for the Q would be fantastic, especially if it worked on the echo. I don't play many games personally and I know the wishlist is already ridiculous but I think it would be a value add.

Q: How about now?

A: We'll get there WHEN WE GET THERE!!! Don't make me stop this car!

oh wait, flashback.

as for now, no Blu ray rips will be viewable in the bedroom. I really don't want a 2nd XBOX for the bedroom. Actually, I'd RATHER have an echo.

Sure, that'll be $10,000,000 per unit. In unmarked bills.

Customers would crucify us for that. You're be amazed how nitpicky some customers can be.
You better believed you'd get crucified for that. I'd be the number 1 person throwing the stones.

I'm hard wired with an xbox 360 and every month or two I get it for a few seconds and it pisses me off.

That alone is a nice step up from the Xbox.

So to me this means the Echo will have a digital out to feed decoded DTS 5.1 to an amp?
Otherwise why do this as HDMI passthrough to an AVR would do the same thing.

Not everyone has an AVR, and DTS is not a mandatory feature of TVs like Dolby Digital is. So for someone that doesn't have an AVR but needs to decode a DTS soundtrack, the only way to do so is with the source device (in this case, the Echo).

Yep I get that, but where would I pass the DTS sound to? My TV?
My extenders don't feed amps or AVR's, just the TVs themselves. My TVs just have stereo speakers.

Yes. Most TVs don't have DTS decoders (in fact, I'm not aware of any TV that does have a DTS decoder), so bitstreaming DTS to the TV would not work. The only option for DTS is to decode it with the Echo and send PCM to the TV. It's the same thing you would have to do to send Dolby Digital to a TV that lacks a Dolby Digital decoder. Luckily, all TVs made today are required to have Dolby Digital decoders in them (well, at least here in the US...I can't speak for any other country), so it is not necessary to include a Dolby Digital decoder in the Echo.

"Speaking of potential users -- all those interested in this hardware should keep an eye out as we're told that the plan is to have a beta for the DTS-compatible Echo extender "soon", likely within a few weeks."

I really can't wait for this. Gonna grab a couple echos to start, and my cousins large new house construction might get the Q and echo treatment. Hopefully it's sooner rather than later.

I for one am very excited about this. I love my HTPC set up but I am tired of being tech support. If they can create an enjoyable experience with few to no issues. I am sold on day 1. Ceton is a great example of a great small business doing great things

I'm on the same page but I'm waiting to see what features it does offer though I have little to no fear that they won't disappoint. The price depends if I'm a day one or day two adopter though.
