IIRC, on the podcast Motz mentionned that we'd be hearing stuff from those that got in, share pictures and stuff. At least that's how I understood it.stonethecrows wrote:^ AFAIK Beta participants will be under a Ceton NDA(?)

Would love to see an Echo Plus--add a DVD or Blu-ray player to the mix, then I could just buy a display and some speakers and be done with it all, including the choice for local optical media. 'Twould be a perfect remote system.

Nothing to talk about at this time. sorry guys.stonethecrows wrote:[kind of off topic, but this was the original 'adjusted' Q and Echo thread and this is related]
Motz, can you comment on InfiniTV6 PCIe development? As the Q will be built using these, is it possible for release to be roughly the same time frame as the Q?

I do not believe that anyone will be under NDA as it is going to be final hardware and close to finished software. You guys will know lots before the beta.NWW wrote:IIRC, on the podcast Motz mentionned that we'd be hearing stuff from those that got in, share pictures and stuff. Yammm will be the only supported method of providing metadata to the companion application but Yammm does check if existing metadata exists and can be set to use it. More details will be available on that soon.staknhalo wrote:Now we know Ceton is using YAMM (for the companion app at least); so I'm assuming no matter what format my metadata is in (unless I'm currently using YAMM) it won't be my metadata displayed, but the YAMM metadata. Correct? If not, what non YAMM metadata format(s) are supported. If it's YAMM's way or nothing, no big deal. Just the meticulousness in me.

Cool cool cool. Glad to see Ceton taking in members of the community like you. After MS dropping the ball with MC in W8, you guys are our last hope I feel. Even if that wasn't the case, you guys are knocking it out of the park from what we know so far. Can't sing enough praises.

+1 on that.adam1991 wrote:Would love to see an Echo Plus--add a DVD or Blu-ray player to the mix, then I could just buy a display and some speakers and be done with it all, including the choice for local optical media. 'Twould be a perfect remote system.
I seem to remember an old thread where someone from Ceton said that they were considering the possibility of allowing an external optical drive to be connected to the Echo's USB port. That would be sweet!

Actually I believe the code to support the various satellite tuners actually shipped in Windows 7 MC. I wonder if will ship in Win8, too - I may have to get my hands on a satellite box and try it out of curiosity.tommo wrote:Use dvblogic software with a dreambox/technomate/omnikey - works greaterkotz wrote:MS developed 4 satellite tuners, but launched 0amador wrote:What ever happen to the sky tuner Ms was working on? did it have the same fate as the Directv tuner?

ehh, wondering how many DirecTV and Dish Tuners Ceton is working on? Would be sweet to have another option.erkotz wrote:MS developed 4 satellite tuners, but launched 0amador wrote:What ever happen to the sky tuner Ms was working on? did it have the same fate as the Directv tuner?

DirecTV developed the DirecTV tuner. But after a year or more on waiting for Microsoft to get H.264 support and other extensions, they moved on. They are now heavily invested in their own DVR and Whole Home products, including their new Home Media Center 5 tuner DVR (HR34). I doubt they have any interest in working with a third party for tuner cards. WMC support would be a good place for Dish to step up and offer a technology alternative to DirecTV, however.amador wrote:What ever happen to the sky tuner Ms was working on? did it have the same fate as the Directv tuner?

Give me a Q box with the ability to add a dvb-t2 and dvb-s2 card and I'm in! Twice.
I'm a WP7 nut and have plenty of test boxes I can put to use, not to mention a bedroom in need of an extender (wink wink Ceton!!!)
