Yeah, the new one caused the whole thing to lock up. Why do you ask?

didn't know in your testing on the other PC if you updated back to 1.1.7.2 or left it alone.

I suppose that re-seating the card could have done it, but that seems very hard to believe. I've had the card out before and the problem persisted after putting it back in.
hehehehe It knows......

Well, my new AVR arrived right after my last post. I've been playing with my new toy all day.

If it's a seating issue, that could explain why I see the problem now but I don't recall seeing it when I first got my card. I've pulled the InfiniTV out a couple of times since I first got it, perhaps I seated it incorrectly last time I put it in. But TBH, I would think incorrectly seating the card would have other problems, not just this funky line of pixels.

^ that, and the fact that I don't think all if us with this issue have seated our cards wrong.. I still get this issue even with the 1.1.7.2 firmware. It happens to me last night, only once though, a blip then gone again. It was on either a HBO or Cinemax channel..

I saw it several times last night. I'll try to get the HDHR setup today. I just hate to call the cable company.

You may want to get a second cable card in the interim should you decide to switch back (?) it would be easier to just give back the CC that you omit instead of making yet another phone call.

I am curious how you find the Prime though...subscribed.

I swapped the cable card from the Ceton tuner to the HDHR Prime. The phone call lasted about 15 minutes, which is a huge improvement... but I still had to explain to the support rep that the card needed to be paired with the new host. If I was not familiar with the setup, the call would have taken quite a bit longer.

So... now I've opened a new thread to document my experience with the new tuner. The link to the thread is below:

Add me to the list... I also spoke with Pam Hammer and she was very nice and offered to send me a replacement card however I declined. She seemed to suggest that though they've seen this problem it's not widespread but based on this thread it appears as though many are having this issue. BTW, I'm on Brighthouse in Michigan using SDV...

This is the email I received from tech-support in December, 2011 and still no fix:

Hi Chuck,
Based on the data in the latest diagnostic capture, we can confirm that we have reproduced this issue are are investigating. We will let you know when we have a fix for this issue.

Thank you,
Ceton Support

Are these issues caused on only generation 1 cards? Also I have noticed on a few recordings now that the sound is dropping for about 1 sec. Just enough that you miss one word. Has anyone else had this issue? BTW My card is a 1st Gen model.

I've been seeing an occasional glitch on the HDHomeRun Prime that looks very similar to the line of bad blocks that I was seeing on the Ceton card. It's not as frequent, and it looks different. Instead of looking like a line of small squares, it's a jagged black line. However, it's similar enough that I'm beginning to wonder if my machine has some problem that was causing the issue with the Ceton card. I'm really feeling bad for slamming Ceton so much.

My ATSC and ClearQAM tuners do not have this issue, so I think that eliminates everything in the machine except for network settings. Both the Ceton and the HDHRP are network tuners... so maybe it's one of my network settings? Any suggestions are welcome.

I'm also seeing something new on the HDHRP. The video and audio occasionally "pause" for a split second, and then it resumes like nothing happened.

Since I got my new AVR and the RCAware HDMI-CEC Bridge, I've been playing with them so much that I haven't gotten back to testing the HDHRP. I'd like to try watching some TV on my other PC, using the HDHRP as the tuner. I'll definitely get to it this weekend. I may end up getting a 2nd CableCARD and TA so I can run both the Ceton AND the HRHRP... maybe in separate machines, recording the same shows.

You may want to look at SDs site for network troubleshooting. You can always enable debugging and post on their forums and they can help you diagnose your issues. Disabling network throttling is a must for me.

Thanks. That was on my list already. I don't think I have it disabled because my extenders work fine, and I never thought that it could be causing a problem with the Ceton tuner. I'll definitely try it.

I logged into the HTPC remotely, and network throttling was definitely enabled. I disabled it and rebooted. I'll watch some TV later tonight to see if it had an impact.

I also disabled "green ethernet" on my network adapter.

You can also try to enable or disable anything with the word 'mitigation' within the driver settings but fisrt thing's first.

...perhaps this should carried over to your HD Homerun experience thread.

After disabling Network Throttling (way back when) my playback has been smooth as glass. I think we'll always see a hiccup or two as the nature of PCs and/or cable delivery but in my case it is very rare/almost nil.

Good point about the other thread. I just wanted to be sure that people know that I'm having a similar issue on the HDHRP.

I can't remember... do you have the Ceton or the HDHRP?
