I ran the program again today. I didn’t get an error message. I ran the program all the way to “finish” But it still don’t show up in my programs list. It does show up on my programs and features list in control panel list.Image

The only thing that tells me is you haven't successfully updated the mxf file in 19 days. What does the log file say after EPG123 runs to create the mxf file? (after "EPG123: Beginning MXF and XMLTV file update. version 1.8.2.7")

That is what epg123 is trying to do but you aren't able to establish a secure connection with Schedules Direct.

There is nothing wrong with Schedules Direct.
There is nothing wrong with EPG123.

You had this problem back in September for the same thing and it "magically" cleared itself. So there is something on your computer, your network, or your ISP that is preventing that secure connection. So the question is what changed?

Do you have another computer/laptop you can install epg123 on? You can just use the portable download and extract it on that computer and then run epg123_gui.exe to see if you can login to Schedules Direct on that computer. If you can, then it is your computer that is having problems. If you cannot, then you should focus on your network setup and/or ISP. There is also a possibility that if you run something like a registry cleaner or malware software, it could be removing some registry entries or components that are needed.

It's strange that I can get a secure connection on everything except Schedules Direct.

Why doesn't EPG123 still not show up on my programs list?

I have a laptop in my shop. I'll have to bring it up and go through all this again. It may take a while. I'll let you know what I find.

It should be in your programs menu unless you unselected the option to 'Create start menu icons' when you installed it.

All you need to do is install EPG123 and then run the configuration GUI (shortcut 'EPG123' or c:\program files (x86)\epg123\epg123_gui.exe). Then just try to login with your Schedules Direct credentials. Don't worry about WMC or anything else.

Last night I brought up my shop laptop to try from there. But first I thought I'd try my office desktop computer again. I opened my media center guide and downloaded the guide and it worked!!! I checked again today and it's still there.

I didn't do or change anything. It just started working again. Maybe my service provider is playing games. Charter or Spectrum.

I can't figure it out. It works - it stops - then it works again.

Anyway thanks to everyone that tried to help.

Interestingly a few other folks (including me) had token problems over the weekend. Sometimes this is Schedules Direct, sometimes Amazon (server host) and sometimes ISPs.
Often, simply retrying at a less busy time of the day, will have success.

For the first few years I had EPG123 it worked great. This past year I have problems every few months. I haven’t changed anything on my computer. Now I’m getting these errors:

This ERROR is probably due to you not having to do much maintenance with EPG123, so you haven't saved the config in a while.

Over time, your provider adds and removes channels from your lineup. Usually it is only a few at a time, so no big deal. However, when the number of channels in your lineup changes too drastically from when you last "saved" the configuration (which sets the baseline), you will get this ERROR and the guide will not be updated.

In your case, the last time you save the configuration was when your lineup had 628 channels. Now, your lineup has 591 channels, 37 channels less.

This is about 5% of your lineup that has gone away since your last config save. When this % gets to a certain point, EPG123 thinks there may be something wrong and prevents the guide from updating.

The simple fix for this is to tell EPG123 that nothing is wrong by pressing the "Save & Execute" button to create a new baseline of 591 channels, but only if those channels weren't removed in error. Because if any of those removed channels have programs on them that you want to record, then they will not be recorded since the channel will be removed from the guide. If the channels that were removed from the lineup really are removed from your cable system, then it's all good, and you can press the button to set the new baseline and update your guide.

I think the error message is a bit cryptic in the version you have, but I believe newer version of EPG123 (beta release?) has a more descriptive explanation of what is going on.

In all these years I’ve never changed any of the channels. I didn’t know I had to do anything. Can you explain to me how to update my settings?

That image is of the EPG123 Client, you want to run the EPG123 Configuration GUI, which I believe just shows up as "EPG123" in the start menu or desktop.

Then look at all the channels on the right side and make sure they are all there (none are missing). Once you verify that, you can press the "Save & Execute" button in the lower right corner and it should update the guide. It then should update the guide every day as it did before.
