You are not alone, I got the same thing this morning on both of my machines.

I'm hoping it's something temporary with Schedules Direct.

Looks like things are going really slow. It took 1:21 to get a small number of daily schedule Md5s and timed out after 5 minutes trying to get the schedule listings. Looks to be on SD side since you're not the only one experiencing it.

Just did a successful manual guide update. I'm back in the 'green'.

I couldn't get passed the second stage of client set up, kept getting 'There was an error using EPG123 to create the mxf file'. Tried an uninstall and re-install and now the guide is fully populated, thanks.

I have no guide either. If I go into the EPG123 client, in the upper left it says "Access is Denied" and everything else is grayed. I went into Schedules Direct and verified that my account is still active. What did you do to fix it? Do I have to uninstall EPG123 and start over with the whole setup process? It has always worked fine up until now.
Thanks,

Al

The "Access is Denied" is to your scheduled task. Open the client as administrator to see if that message clears. If it does, then I would delete the current task and create a new one.

What version of Windows are you using? This was only a real issue in the early Win10 days.

Edition Windows 10 Pro
Version 22H2
Installed on ‎9/‎11/‎2020
OS build 19045.3086
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19041.1000.0

I opened the client as administrator and the Access is Denied did clear. I hit the Delete button, and then the Create button. It now says "Ready. The task has not yet run. Exit: 0x00091303" Do I have to wait until the next scheduled run time, or can I manually run the task?

Thanks,

Al

Also, if I close the EPG123 client and re-open it without admin rights, the "Access is Denied" reappears. If I open it again as administrator it shows the "Ready. The task has not yet run" again.

Then there is something with your user account security settings that limits you on being able to see the status of the task.

You can right-click the EPG logo in the notification tray and select 'Update Guide Now' to run the task.

The "Access is Denied" has never occurred until today, when the outage occurred. This is a new error. I have never changed any security settings. When I right click, I do not have an option to "update guide now". I guess I am screwed.

You don't have the option to run the task (Update Guide Now)? If it is greyed out, that means it can't find the epg123Client.exe file.

I don't have any EPG logo in the system tray at all, and never have, so I can't bring up a menu like you did (it's not in the hidden icons either). I waited for it to do its regularly scheduled update, which was at 6 PM today. It is now after 7 PM, and epg123 now says the last run was made then. However, they guide listings never made it into WMC. The hidden icons in the system tray has one for WMC that says there were errors and the guide didn't update, and that it will retry tomorrow morning.

Are you using the portable installation? You won't get the tray or the http proxy/cache service. You should still be able to see the task though.

WMC says in the settings for About Program Guide that the guide ran out 7/5/2023 at 10:00 PM and I have EPG 1-2-3 v1.33. I had done the installation for the server (not client only) as in your instructions a while back, probably a couple years ago, and have not messed with it at all since, as it has always worked fine until now.

Run the installer again and pay attention to the items selected to install. If using EPG123 with Schedules Direct, make sure it is selected. If using HDHR2MXF for SiliconDust DVR Service, make sure it is selected.

The installer options changed from the old to the 1.8.x.x and all your options from the previous install may not carry over.

EDIT: Also, make sure the Notification Tray Tool is selected. That option didn't exist with v1.3 I don't think.

I just did the new install for 1.8.0.9, and I have the notification tray icon, and better yet, I now have guide listings in WMC. Also, that Access Denied thing unless I ran as administrator is fixed as well. Thank you so much for your help and support.
