I've been getting caller ID on my HTPC and extenders for years with a combination of modem, YAC and Babgvant's YAC Client. It all works fine, but in this day and age, especially because I've had VOIP/Digital Voice service for so long, I can't help but wonder why I still have to use an analog modem. It seems so archaic to have to convert the digital information to analog, just to distribute a few kilobytes of data throughout the house.

Which highlights how to decode (my) Caller ID information, but this seems far from a plug/play solution. So my question is, are there any 3rd party plugins that will allow a non-modem caller id solution? Seems radical, I know
