Greenbutton not working on Linksys DMA 2100 & XBOX MCX

Hi

Not sure if it ever worked as I only bought this Linksys DMA extender for my daughter's room last week, but when I press the Green Button, it does not take you back to the MCE start menu.

Was a brand new Linksys DMA unit, never used before so was a new remote control also.

Hi Stuart, maybe I have missed something here but humor me anyway :d, what does it take you to (if anything) when you press it?

Long shots -
Try a known good remote to rule out the DMA.
Hold a video camera or smartphone camera infront of the IR emitter when pressing the button to see if it emits IR.

I have Three 2100 and only one of the remotes still work. None of them ever worked well all seemed to send weak signals. I replaced mine with cheap media center remotes that have worked great.

To anwswer one your questions: yes, the green button on the DMA2100 remote should take you to the main MC menu.

I have two other standard MCE remote controls I don't use, I can try them on the extender and let you know. The extender's own remote seems to work well with all the other buttons and I was even able to program it to turn the TV on/off and control the TV's volume controls. Just not the GreenButton button.

Now I am really confused! I tried a different MCE remote on the Linksys DMA extender, one of those silver Microsoft ones and the Green Button does nothing on that remote either. I then turned on my XBOX 360 extender and used the same silver remote and again the Green Button is not working on the XBOX MCX either. I then went downstairs and used the same silver remote on the HTPC that works and so does the Green Button on the HTPC.

This is a new problem but my whole setup has only been up and running again for about two weeks as we have just moved house etc. But I don't recall having this problem with the same HTPC and XBOX at the old house.

This is really strange..

All I can think of is that there is interference in the room from either a flourescent light / sunlight or the TV, right on the money for the green button IR frequency.
Have you held the remote way up close to the IR receiver on the DMA?

I should add that usually, as you probably know, if there is interference, it affects all IR commands. It's a long shot.

Seems to be working again now the Green Button on the Linksys DMA. mcontrol just crashed my HTPC and it rebooted, after the reboot the Green Button started working again on the extender, go figure ?

Thanks for the suggestions I will keep an eye on it.

That's wierd, I posted before your post above to suggest a mod or configuration change on the HTPC may be causing it. I did it from Tapatalk, so it just probably blipped through crappy 3G reception. Glad to hear you have it working!
