Out of sync video/audio on extender

#1

Post by michaeljc70 » Wed Jan 25, 2012 4:33 pm

I have a bunch of video files that are fine on my main media center. However, on the extender some of them are out of sync. This happens on both of my extenders (DMA2100/DMA2200).

I have to say, that has only happened on a small percent of files.

So far to try and fix it, I have:

1) made sure the firmware was up to date on the extender
2) made sure Win7 was up to date.
3) changed codec packs on my media center (had Shark, went to K-lite)

According to Gpsot, the files are MPG4, Xvid 1.0.1, mpeg-1 audio layer 3.

Okay...I completely removed all codec and it worked fine.

What I really want is a codec pack that only installs codecs for formats Windows doesn't support. None seem to do this automatically.

You really don't need codec packs with Windows 7, the only thing I have installed on my system is hallisplitter for MKVs. Then I just added the registry hacks for MP4 and MKV for Media Center.

+1 I never install codec packs either. Windows 7 has good codec support built in. I install Haali splitter and the reg hack and ac3 filter that's all.

Thanks for the info. Really, MKV is the only thing that comes to mind that isn't supported in Win7. I'll give that a try.
