Missing Channels in WMC with EPG123

#1

Post by tele59 » Thu Jan 02, 2020 1:35 am

I am a new user of epg123. Thank you very much for this service! I found setup to be straight forward and didn't encounter any problems using with WMC and schedules direct except for missing a key channel and another one at the wrong channel.

Below is email I sent to schedules direct with a clarifications:

I am in chicago and want to use your service with EPG123.

> Unfortunately it is getting everything except NBC WMAQ Ch 5.1.

SD Answer: We have it on the server:
2.21: WBBMLD2 "WBBMLD2 (WBBM-LD2)" [DECADES] (stationID 98552) (uhfVhf: 26)
2.3: WBBMDT3 "WBBMDT3 (WBBM-DT3)" [DABL] (stationID 112504) (uhfVhf: 12)
5.1: WMAQDT "WMAQDT (WMAQ-DT)" [NBC] (stationID 20452) (uhfVhf: 33)
5.2: WMAQDT2 "WMAQDT2 (WMAQ-DT2)" [COZITV] (stationID 45805) (uhfVhf: 33)
7.1: WLSDT "WLSDT (WLS-DT)" [ABC] (stationID 20456) (uhfVhf: 22)

> Also
> Channel 2.1 WBBM is on 48.3 not 2.1. Can you help me with tis?

We have that too:
48.1: WMEUCD "WMEUCD (WMEU-CD)" (stationID 67657) (uhfVhf: 18)
48.2: WMEUCD2 "WMEUCD2 (WMEU-CD2)" [STARTTV] (stationID 83131) (uhfVhf: 18)
48.3: WMEUCD3 "WMEUCD3 (WMEU-CD3)" [CBS] (stationID 102324) (uhfVhf: 18)
48.4: WMEUCD4 "WMEUCD4 (WMEU-CD4)" [DECADES] (stationID 102325) (uhfVhf: 18)

Have you asked for EPG123 assistance at The Green Button?

So I am asking for assistance here. If they have the proper channels why am I not getting them in epg123 and in Windows Media Center?

In epg123 client in right pane for over the air broadcast (60201)it shows 5 channels for WBBM (CBS) and two for WMAQ (NBC). However in the scanned digital antenna list they are not there.

Thanks in advance for help!

So, to understand, other than the station that has the wrong guide listings, they don't exist on the left side of the client? If so, that means WMC couldn't tune them in when it was doing its scan.

I am certainly no expert, having just this evening gotten the guide listings to 'take' after several attempts at installing.
Thanx again to Gary for his patience in another thread.

I am also in the Chicago area, western 'burbs, zip 60555, Comcast/Xfinity. I also had some missing channels after I got the guide to finally show up. CBSHD(189), almost anything having to do with NBC: NBCHD(197), MSNBC, NBCSports, etc.
Also CLTV(53), and about 10-15 others.

The channels were there and tunable/watchable, but no program info in the guide.
I am using the past tense because I now have data for every channel.

With WMC stopped and not recording anything, I simply ran the EPG123 Config Tool (not the client) again. It probably doesn't matter, but i clicked on 'Lineups' and ticked the box next to the already existing lineup in the dialog box that appeared. Just to reconfirm what worked 98% previously.
I then did [Save and Execute]. Waited, and when it concluded, I restarted WMC to find every single channel fully populated in the guide. Not a single "No data available." to be found.

Programs involving those channels that couldn't be scheduled because there was no data have now appeared in my scheduled recordings list as they should.

Hope that helps...

I, too, have a set of missing channels (KIMT Channels 10.1,10.2,10.3), Rochester, MN 55901, that do not appear in your guide or on the left side of the client but do on the right. These did appear in my MS provided guide before I did the EPG123 full setup procedure yesterday. I tried re-scanning in WMC TV setup a couple more times, but these channels still did not appear. I am OTA with the double tuner HDHomeRun and can view the missing channels directly with HDHomeRun on my computer. I am running Windows 7. Your guide is working great for all of my other channels. Do you have any ideas on how to get these missing channels again tuned in to WMC?

You need to manually enter the VHF channels. WMC does not scan that frequency band. Please refer to http://epg123.garyan2.net/tools/#vhfAddChannel. You will be using digital channels 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, 10.4, and 10.5 with the assigned frequency of 10.

Thank you, Gary. I guess, when I read the "Additional OTA Configuration" section on page 14 of the Installation and User's Guide, I got confused by the need to know the assigned frequency, thinking I would need to know it in megahertz. Your brief response was all I needed to get the missing channels tuned in WMC and working in your GREAT epg123 software.

Yah, whoever decided to use the phrase 'Assigned frequency' in WMC needed some learning. I'm an old commo guy and stuff like that just make you go "what the... huh?"
