Is there a difference between expensive hdmi cables and cheap ones? I have a ps3 and I want an hdmi cable for the best picture. Now Sony has official hdmi cables for $60.00 but I've found hdmi cables on Ebay for $2.00-15.00. I know the Sony cables work because it says Sony but I don't know about the other cables. Do they offer the same performance or are the ones on ebay just a scam?

Other veterans here may have different advice but when I first got into HTPC about a year and a half ago I researched buying the expensive Monster brand. I couldn't find any reason to justify the cost. I went with what Walmart had on the shelh and have been happy with that.

Digital is digital--either the bits get there, or they don't. Digital bits don't have quality, they have only existence or no existence.

Amazon or Monoprice have cables that do the job just fine.

And Monster anything is a ripoff.

Same here, I won't even buy my HDMI cables at retailers anymore, most are too expensive. I purchase them on-line for around $10@ and have about 8 of them in use. They are perfect for all my HD devices (including Apple TV). Same goes for Toslink cables. Sorry Monster, never bought them and never will.

$10?!?!

I buy them for a $1 shipped either from Meritline or Monoprice when they go on sale.
