Windows 7 Metadata

There has been a few posts about not being able to view Metadata on WMC and WMP. I was wondering if EPG123 should solve this issue. I'm thinking it should if Metadata is included in the download

There is some metadata included in the TV listings download, but this is referring to extended metadata for movies.

Stuff like movie reviews and getting a list of movies that a particular actor was in, etc. This is the stuff that was gotten from or used the extended metadata.

Also, if you have movies that WMC did not record (such as ripped from a DVD or gotten from another source) which has a .dvdid file, those movies will no longer have any metadata added to WMC (unless you use a third party app to get it), as the DVD ID in the .dvdid file was used to query the extended metadata to get that information.

From avsforum:
I think it happened already. I tried checking the terms of service page in WMC to see if it changed but I get this error on both of my WMC PCs:
NO INTERNET CONNECTION
You must be connected to the internet to use this feature. Check your internet connection and try again.

My internet connection is fine. Maybe that TOS page was hosted on the same servers they used for guide data and now it's gone?

I don't think this will affect me since I use Schedules Direct with EPG 123, but it makes me wonder if that error would prevent WMC setup from completing if you ever had a reason to go through setup again.
@garyan2

Are you aware of this? Certain portions of setting up epg123 requires denying the terms of service which may not be available now in WMC.

I'll take a look. May already have a work-around if it an issue.

I just verified that you can no longer view the ToS from settings->TV->Guide->Guide Terms of Service ... however, you can still see it while performing a TV Setup and continue without issue.

Guess I'll start looking for a contingency plan if needed.

Update: I don't think it will be an issue. The ToS is stored on the local machine in a text file ... this is what is referenced during TV Setup. C:\Windows\ehome\[en-US]\epgtos.txt.
