Missing microsoft ehome infrared transceiver driver

If updated drivers don't work, can you show us a list of the sound devices from the device manager? I have had this one a few times also. If updating the drivers doesn't work, then try uninstalling some of the other audio devices from the sound manager, and see if that frees things up. Do you have a DAC installed somewhere?

I did download the amd drivers. I think that is what broke things. I did a system restore to a point prior to amd install and that fixed things. Now I am reinstalling other updates including amd stuff. I have my fingers crossed.

Where are you getting your drivers from? Which graphics card do you have installed on this machine?

From AMD. Old card. Radeon HD 5700. Trying reinstall with just graphics driver, but I couldn't uncheck some of the prerequisites.

I skipped the AMD HDMI audio driver and things are looking good. Maybe there is a god!
