WMC Cannot Find HDHomeRun Prime

#1

Post by DanTheTechMan » Sun Sep 30, 2018 4:07 pm

Hi. For some reason, I can't get WMC to find my HDHR Prime. I have tried all the troubleshooting steps listed on SiliconDust's website regarding this, however, I am still having this issue. I have also tried to "reset" WMC via the command line, also without any success. I read somewhere on this forum that someone has a tool to "factory-reset" WMC, and was thinking of trying that, as I don't know what else to do.

Do you have network discovery turned on? Can you see the HDHR in Windows Explorer?

Yes, I have Network Discovery turned on, and yes, I can see both the DRI and DMS tuners in Windows Explorer.

I don't know what else to check, but can you access the HDHR using their own app?

Newest prime firmware is known for not being visible to WMC. Try installing older firmware. [20170930] is my firmware and works great!

It's not possible to downrev Prime firmware.

Do you have the network location for your network adapter set to "Public Network" instead of "Home Network"? It should be set to "Home Network".

Is that true? If that's the case, then I'm thinking that the upcoming 6-tuner Prime may not work with WMC and that would be sad.

Ummm, I did (had the same problem). Just installed said firmware "update/downgrade" and it just worked.

I've had the no tuners found issue and ran the "repair" option in the HDhomerun software, and it fixed it. (with a restart of WMC)

CableLabs does not permit firmware downgrades on devices that support DRM, so unless that has changed, firmware downgrades on HDHomerun Prime devices is not possible.

From a command prompt with admin rights enter: c:\windows\ehome\ehprivjob.exe /OCURDiscovery
and then try to find your tuners.
Further steps to try are here: https://www.silicondust.com/support/tro ... erun-prime
