Install of WMC on Windows 10 flickers
This is not a huge issue, but i would like to fix it if anyone has any thoughts. I wasn't going to upgrade to windows 10 because i didn't want to lose WMC, but after trying Windows 10 and realizing that there was a way to install WMC i decided to give it a go. It works perfectly so far with one exception, the program flickers, not while video is playing (thank god), just while in the different menus. I updated to the most recent driver for my video card and restarted but it still flickers. If anyone else has had the problem and fixed it, or anyone has thoughts on how to fix it otherwise, i would love to hear from you. As I said it's not a huge problem, as video and music an photos work fine, but I'd like to get it fixed if possible.
Thanks in advance for any help,

Flickering can sometimes be corrected or reduced by adjusting de-interlacing and/or adaptive contrast. Have a look around the TGB site on how and where to do that.

Thanks for the ideas, was having trouble with my display drivers and software and haven't been able to look into adjusting those options yet. I'll let you know as soon as I do.

GTX 750 or similar?
Looks like 2 so far, with the same problem.

Should these two threads be combined?

I don't thing so - its an integrated amd a6 5200 apu. I thought that the settings i needed to change were going to be in the amd crimson software, which replaced the catalyst control center. There is a link for additional options in the main menu but I wasn't able to get it working. After uninstalling with DDU and reinstalling different versions i finally got it to work, with the most recent version of all things. I thought that I used to see those options in ccc, but as far as I can tell, they are not in the amd crimson software. I'll research as you suggested when I get home from work this evening

I see, same symptom with competing brands. Is your flicker every 5 seconds?
might be the 29/59 thing
I think I read somewhere, someone set the refresh to 59 instead of 60 and the flicker was solved.
Maybe not, I think that was for flicker during LiveTV.
You 2 have flicker during WMC menu.

Pretty much flickers constantly, but video plays fine. As I said, it only flickers on the blue menu screens.

Mine flickers in the menu, live TV and playing digital content. Just enough of a stutter to be annoying.
I believe our settings here are 50htz (Australia). But I could be wrong. I think I remember seeing that when I set up the display
I am running a Compro Video Mate E750 capture card and my video adaptor is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti running driver 10.18.13.6839.
Any assistance would be much apprecited to get rid of the jitter.
BTW thank for all your help so far crash2009
Thank you
Sharon

search adaptive contrast in the search box in the upper right corner of this screen. This setting has been messing with WMC since Christ was a child.

I searched but was not able to find anyone with amd graphics with a solution. I have gone through all of the settings in the amd crimson software and do not see anything called adaptive contrast

Hi again
I don't seem to have adaptive contrast options either. I do have dynamic contrast but cannot disable that. Only chang from partial to full.
I have searched this forum for adaptive contrast and read all the posts. Some of the fixes for other NVIDIA cards don't seem to work as I have changed settings that they have mentioned with no luck. Although the rgb change mentioned won't work as I don't have the option listed to change to.

Last night I left WMC open for a while as I was browsing upcoming movies to see if there were any I wanted to record. After leaving it open so long, the flicker stopped. I closed wmc and opened it again to see if the flicker was gone for good. It wasn't.

Have done a lot of playing. Digital content plays without stutter on VLC, Windows Media Player and with the built in Film & TV. Even works fine with wmc in small screen.
Stutter only happens with wmc in full screen. And after studying it closely it is more like every 2 seconds

Maybe Codec related? Don't make any changes unless Shark says so. Have a look around his website to see if there is anything related.

Do a search over there for Flicker.

While watching a channel that displays the problem.....Open up WMC Debug (google it)
to open debug:
with a keyboard press 411 Ctrl d
with a remote press 411 Info
Use the right arrow >>> to view the various screens.
Not quite sure what to look for but see if the frame rate correlates with your flicker. Frame Rate is the 9th screen to the right.
I was unable to screencap in full screen. See if there are any differences in frame rate (or other things) between full screen and windowed mode.

When in fullscreen, can you check if the stuttering is even while navigating the menu? I may have the same issue and it may have to due with dual monitor setup. Do you have more than one monitor connected?shavid0610 wrote:Have done a lot of playing. Digital content plays without stutter on VLC, Windows Media Player and with the built in Film & TV. She is participating in several threads, one of them she confirmed the flicker in the menu as well as while playing video. Not sure if stutter is a new problem or just a new description of the same problem.
Anybody look into the possibility of a DX12 issue?

Tried this last night after Google came up with it as a way to test 29/59 issue. Doesn't bring up the debug menu though. When typing 411 it brings up a skip forward back option then ctl D brings up wmc menu for Internet security and settings. Couldn't see any other way to bring up the debug screensCrash2009 wrote:While watching a channel that displays the problem.....Open up WMC Debug (google it)

EDIT - Just tried on TV rather than digital and it worked. Wasn't reading through instructions carefully enough I guess.
Says the following:-
Video Codec MPEG2
Bit rate 3127540 bps
Frame corruption rate 6
Corrupt frame count 162
Native size 1024x576
Display size 1920x1080
Frame rate 25
When I go to a small screen it changes to:-
Bit rate 2037910 bps
Frame corruption rate 18
Corrupt frame count 313
Display size 1176x662
Frame rate 59.9401
Other things stayed the same

Stutter soeasn't appear to be an issue in the menu any more. Just live tv and digital playback.Crash2009 wrote:She is participating in several threads, one of them she confirmed the flicker in the menu as well as while playing video. Although now the pixelation is back after it went away after reinstalling the capture card drivers.
