Somebody just tried RTP to VLC with a Ceton. That part is working. A couple other things are working also.glugglug wrote:Is the InfiniTV network interface working at least?
Can you tune a channel through the network interface and RTP stream it to VLC?
Is ehrecvr service running? If I remember right it used to start only when you watched live TV or recorded something, but CableCARD tuners won't do the WMDRM pairing without it running.

Updated about 10 PC's with the Anniversary Update from this web site "http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software ... windows10/".
All were running the "WindowsMediaCenter_10.0.10134.0v2.1" WMC just fine.
Had to reinstall WMC on all.
On all but 2 WMC still works great.
The two bad ones try to start WMC but it crashes in less than a second.
Tried "WMC_6.3.9600.16384_x64_v12" WMC on one and got the same error.
One PC I reverted back to old OS (pre Anniversary) and WMC works again.
Appears to be a problem with .NET.
Here is the .NET Runtime error log:

I've just updated my system with the anniversary update 10.0.14393 and I cannot get WMC to start.
As with the last major update I had to re-install WMC. I've re-installed and it looks OK but when I click on ehsell nothing happens.
This might be because I'm not using the correct WMC version.
Do you have a suggested source link?
Thanks

I'm using "WindowsMediaCenter_10.0.10134.0v2.1" as well.
It looked to me like it was a dotnet issue but I've no idea how to fix either.

You can eventually try to use the version 8.6 below, Some people have better luck with it.
It contains an uninstaller that you should run first to clean any pieces from the previous v12.

Remember that at this point no CableCard work with the anniversary update (no Ceton no HDHR)

I downloaded V8.6 and it installed OK.
And - bonus it runs too !!
Forgive my ignorance - is this an earlier version of WMC?
Thank you so much for the response.
Eventually WMC will probably not work at all and that will leave a big hole.
I've tried NEXTPVR, MediaPortal and Kudo and I'm not impressed with any of them.
Way to geeky to install and get going.
As far as I can tell they are all good products but aren't really made for Live TV.
Has anyone had any success with the newer products?
Thanks

The Anniversary update seems to provide update 4.6.2 to the .NET framework (from 4.6.1 in the previous build). This ( https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/librar ... .110).aspx ) outlines possible incompatibilities, but I can't see anything obvious yet.
I wonder if uninstalling that might help? This (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... x?id=51625) says 'On Windows 10 you can find this as Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3120830) under Installed Updates in Control Panel'.

I get all sorts of bad messages when I click on that link, with a red background, reported to MS as stealing financial date, not recommended, saying I need a Java update etc. Am I doing something wrong (the next post says it works) or is it really, really scary? (I'm using Edge browser). Is there a safe download that Edge (or IE) users can use?scrambler wrote:You can eventually try to use the version 8.6 below, Some people have better luck with it.

Well done for downloading it. I've just been using "WindowsMediaCenter_10.0.10134.0" quite happily and it gets broken by the Anniversary update. I tried following your example to download v8.6 and get all sorts of scary messages!wmc_nut wrote:I downloaded V8.6 and it installed OK.

I've only tried MediaPortal, which was close, but didn't really cut it. The re-install of WMC made me realise why I had used it over the years. It just works, has a great interface, and lets me record & cut out adverts etc. It is so ironic that I spent all those years waiting to me able to afford a silent, fanless PC to go under the TV, and now they are cheap as chips, WMC is dead! I just wish MS would convert WMC into an App for the Store. Surely it wouldn't be that difficult and they would get some people to pay for it - I for one would buy it?!

I had to register on he forum before I could see the links.
Hope that helps.

When I look in Regedit under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NPD\v4\Full\Release" it shows 394802. Shows the same version on a PC that works (post Anniversary updates).
According to MS this is .NET Framework 4.6.2.
Installation of the Anniversay Updates (KB3176929) is basically a new clean install.
Have no way to uninstall KB3120830.
WMC WORKS on 8 of the 10 PC's I upgraded with the Anniversary Updates though !!!
Any more ideas?

I took my old pre Anniversary Updates Win 10 image on the machine that WMC does not work on post Anniversary updates and manually installed .Net 4.6.2.
WMC still works !!!
Then I tried to install the Anniversary Updates.
Final image was not stable and WMC no longer worked.
Oh well !!!

Quick post:
I was able to get Windows 10 updated to 1607, and after a bunch of reboots and WMC uninstall/reinstalls, found that the v8.6 installer package worked better for me than the v12 package. I should mention that I was running the v12 WMC on Windows 10 prior to the update without error. But ultimately I had persistent issues with v12 appearing to install WMC, but WMC simply not loading once I'd try to run it.
A few notes unique to my situation, I do use an OTA feed, so while v8.6 did install and run WMC fine, PlayReady failed to update during the initial setup. I don't mind, since I don't use a cable feed. Also I have a 'generic' PCI tuner card installed, not the Ceton/Homerun stuff that other guys may be fighting. So a big thanks to TS for the 8.6 installer, that worked for me. And good luck to everybody else getting WMC going on Windows 10.

No. But I think I probably pressed the big Download button on the right, rather than the small greyed out one on the left! Derrrr! Both work fine for me so if any of these two, you may have something hacking your browser.
When you download, do not use their download manager, just use the main download button after unchecking the use secure download manager option as explained in the post.
