I tried for three months to get WMC guide to download with all sorts of different zip codes. All I got was No data available in the guide and in the Error log it stated "Failed to retrieve nettv (Error: PackageName is invalid)
No matter how many times I try all the steps, listed on the community page, I still get this same error and no data in the guide.
I started over about 20 times, using different zip codes with no luck.
I finally found a work around and it is now working.
I had to edit the listing for each of the 68 channels we get and browse the listing and scroll through the channel list until I could pick the right from the list (and click save in order to get programs to show up on the guide. For instance, for MSNBC, I had to go to Edit Listing and then scroll through until I go to MSNBC and go to Save. Suddenly the program listing for MSNBC showed up on the guide. I had to do this same process for each channel, which took me 2 hours to get it all straight.
The names seem to be a bit different on the Rovi guide, which causes the new guide not to show up. I hope this can be fixed so I don't have to do this again.
Before, this I tried the DNS flush, reinstalling, restarting, deleting the ehome files, etc. Nothing worked but this.

So I just had a windows 8 refresh and when I go to look at my WMC guide I see the OTA channels but digital cable is missing.
I am trying zip codes around 60090 with no luck.

Try searching that zip up in the top right corner of this page. You may be pleasantly surprised, that you are not alone.hdtvjeff wrote:oops 11566

I think your whole ROVI zip code is messed up
Edit your hosts to same as mine, flush dns etc., go to tv setup use 48103, select Comcast digital
If you don't want to go that extreme, leave your host alone, find a working zip in this thread as close to you as possible, and try every zip between you and the working one until you find one that works.
Not just the zip next door, every one until you hit a winner.
There is no magic bullet for this one. You could sit here waiting for an answer till next xmas.
Hit the right zip and you get the gold.
Eventually Rovi will fix it, but who knows when that'll be.

I'm sure the developers are asking themselves the same question. Those 2 bcdedits have prevented the system file blowout for me. However I haven't really done any testing to see what the edits have affected.hdtvjeff wrote:Ok..back to drawing board Crash but what is causing system files modified error ?

Set your host file to the east coast again, flushdns, and reboot.hdtvjeff wrote:oops 11566
Look back in our previous conversations, and reset WMC again, and reboot.
Go over to this msn site, punch in your zip, and figure out which lineup you should be on, (there are 10 lineups for that zip) then run WMC's TV setup and select the appropriate lineup. Lineup selection is just after the part where you put in the Zip.

I think your tuner and CableCard realize that you are entitled to "Protected Channels" that's why you can see and play the empty boxes in the EPG. The boxes are empty because the Lineup you selected in TV Setup does not include the channels in the previous sentence.

Not sure if this is related or just a coincidence, but ever sicne my refresh I was having trouble downloading anything in IE and I couldn't get GFWL to work properly.
Well I tried this and played some games, then my guide data was also fixed. Like I said, could just be a coincidence.
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
