Channels appearing automatically
I have an annoying issue - I'll go through and edit my channel list to only show the channels we watch. After a week or two, my channel lineup magically gains 50 - 100 more channels! Today it was "NHL Center Ice" and "NBA League Pass". I don't subscribe to these Dish channels so I NEVER want them to appear again. I can tell when channels appear because my guide will have big-time lag and I have to wait forever for it to load! Is there a setting I'm missing? I have never used auto select in the edit channels setting option so I don't think that has anything to do with it. I'm sure I've unchecked these channels in the past too, yet they will probably come back in a week or two.

Over the past few years, we had guide problems only once or twice a year. Usually they fixed themselves. This year has been a nightmare.
I don't remember if I noticed your exact issue in my setup, but I have ran GuideTool/restore a few times this year. Comcast sends me approximately 600 channels in the guide, I am only subscribed to approximately 300. In reality the 300 is only 100 because the same show is on 3 channels. For example, channel 2, 102 and 1002 are all the same show. So what I did was use GuideTool to trim the 600, down to 100, then made a backup. When my channels get screwed, I do a restore. Probably not a fix for the root cause but, it feels like a simple, painless solution.
I also, have noticed my guide is more responsive to navigation when the duplicates have been removed.

I've seen this happen when I accidentally assigned a Dish guide service in guide tool to a channel (I have Charter). You can check if you have an extra service assigned by going to Settings->TV->Guide->About Guide Listings and see if anything other than OTA and your cable service is listed. I fixed it by re-running TV Setup.

Thanks for the tips. I'll look into guidetool to backup and restore the proper channels. I only have one Dish and one OTA in the guide settings, so it looks like that's not the problem. It probably has something to do with MS and Rovi putting new data in and it triggering my guide to add channels.

Just ran into one reason why Channels Appear Automatically in the Guide. Check your Favorites. (if you have them set up)

Thanks for the info Crash2009 -I don't have any favorites setup, so that shouldn't be the cause.
Also, I can't find Guidetool anywhere on the net. The main site is no longer active. If you know where I could get the install I would appreciate the link .

I have the feeling this is more than coincidence.
You ever get the feeling that someone doesn't want WMC to survive.
