Ceton InfiniTV 6 ETH + Comcast MPEG-4

#1

Post by hceuterpe » Sat Nov 14, 2015 5:00 am

I just got the postal mailed letter that Comcast in my area is moving to MPEG-4 for channels. Anyone know if Ceton ETH supports/handles MPEG-4 channels? For what it's worth I tuned to channel 1995, and all I get are 3 dots moving across the screen...

The tuner is fine. All it does is grab the stream and write it to the hard drive. What you might need to be concerned about is when you go to playback the files, will your hardware/software work- WMC PC, xbox, other extender(s), portable devices, video codecs/software players, etc...

So is it safe to assume that 1995 channel with the three dots is basically worthless as a test unless you have Comcast owned equipment?

I have been using only WMC. I have an XBox, but never even really connected that, since I have 2 WMC computers (which are H.264 perfectly well, including Blu-rays). I guess I'm good :)
