WMC7 "Service is Unavailable" every channel
Hopefully someone has some ideas on this, cause I've got nothing. I had everything working perfectly, but my hard drive broke, and had to redo everything. Running WMC 7 x64 with an InfiniTV6. After I reinstalled windows, and Ceton drivers, etc. Ran through all the WMC, and Ceton setup steps. And every channel says service is unavailable. Under Ceton diagnostics, tuning all the channels I have is successful. I'm guessing something in windows is broken, but don't know what. I tested DRM support successfully, and can even playback DRM recordings made when everything worked. I don't even know where to start, short of the obvious redo everything 500 times in a different way each time.

Did you run Digital Cable Advisor and pick the correct lineup during setup?

Might be an access issue. Are you running any sort of SW firewall?
Make sure:
ehshell.exe - inbound/outbound on LAN - outbound on WAN
ehrecvr.exe - inbound/outbound on LAN
CetonTRIFSvc.exe - outbound on LAN
InfiniTVSvc.exe - outbound on LAN
have access.
Disabling FW entirely MAY allow testing & specific settings will vary depending on the product.

Thanks for the replies.
I have FW completely disabled.
And yes, ran digital cable advisor, and selected the correct provider.
It seems like everything should be working.
All tests I can think off aside from watching tv, show that all is well.

Omg
I have reformatted, and redid everything dozens of times in the last week, and it just automagically started working.
I guess this is solved, but I'd really like to understand why.

Try rebooting the ETH6/TA/PC. I occasionally see this & the reboot usually clears things up.
What firewall product? Ceton will recommend completely uninstalling 3rd-party firewalls (for troubleshooting) as disabling doesn't necessarily solve the issue. If using the default Windows firewall, changes SHOULD have been made automatically (assuming you said 'yes' when prompted during Ceton driver install).
Since this is a fresh install, also search this forum for:
- Ceton recommended MS hotfixes (~4 IIRC... some will seem questionable, but apply 'em anyway)
- Problem MS hotfixes to be unistalled/hidden (there was one recently... KB3?????)
OR,, if none of the above works, open a support ticket w/ Ceton. They will likely provide detail for hotfixes, etc. as part of their troubleshooting 'boilerplate'.

I will look at hotfixes.
The only firewall on my computer is the windows one, which is disabled.
Rebooting pc does nothing.
What is Eth6 and TA?
Another thing that might matter.
Today a "Windows is not Genuine" window popped up, but then disappeared before I could fully read it.
Then I checked, and my copy is genuine.
I bought it from newegg years back, so I know its legit.
But it seems like windows may be confused about its own legitimacy?
Only happened the one time as far as I know.
But is there any chance that if some part of windows thinks its not legit, it would disable tv?

I was having the same problem... so I changed cable cards - and the cards would work for 24 hours, then each time I spoke with level 2 technicians they reset things at multiple points in their system.. and it would work for a brief time. then nothing...
Wife had enough and we now have a 2 year contract with DirecTV... wife is annoyed by the Genie system but happy we at least have tv signal... if you can ever run down the exact issue that is causing your problem I am more than interested in case it may have been what caused ours... because I would more than happily go back to wmc once this contract runs out.

Sorry, you mentioned 'InfiniTV6' in your original post & I read 'Eth6'... nvm. I'm guessing you don't need/use a tuning adapter, either? Scratch that, too... I do & assumed.
Ceton support may be your 'path of least resistance'...
But if you feel like reading, here are some related threads:

I am gonna try to gram another cable card on my way home from work too, just to rule it out.
I'll start with all the hot fixes, and then try the new cable card if its still not working.

Have you activated your installation of windows? Non activated installations can cause nothing but grief.cbanakis wrote:Omg

I've scene this with windows drivers for the video card be incompatible, I scene this when I tried using HDMI audio at first, you need to run the audio/video setup. I once remembered a Windows update caused this, I needed to back up to a earlier backup, I disabled updates for a month and was able to re-update.
