Cable Card Not Valid

#1

Post by pchill » Thu Mar 21, 2013 9:52 pm

I was wondering if anyone has encountered this issue:
I have been using the Infinitv4 with Comcast for 1 year. I all of the sudden got a "Cable card not valid" signal from the WMC and Ceton Diagnostic Tool
I replaced my cable card. Tried 2 different ones and am getting the same thing.
I tried to reinstall Ceton SW, including drivers. Same thing.
Replaced the Infinitv4 with a new one. Same thing
Made sure that Bridge Connection was set to Yes.

Can anyone help me out here?

I forgot to mention that I can also see on the Ceton Online tool when they actually activate the card.

Not Valid or not Validated? I don't believe we have a "not valid" message

Sorry, "A valid cable card was not detected." On my computer Ceton Diagnostic Tool

It says on the online status that it was "validated" and I watched it move from "not-validated"

If you go to the web page of the InfiniTV, does it see the CableCARD there? If so, this is likely a firewall issue. If not, please make sure that the CableCARD is properly inserted, and failing that, replace the CableCARD.

That was it!!! You are money!!

Quick follow up question.... Since I have purchased the additional Infinitv4 and have the additional Cable card, can I run 2 on Windows Media Center or is it limited to one (i.e. 4 streams).

Just trying to determine whether I should return.

Can't say enough how much I appreciate it!!

You can have more than one InfiniTV4 installed and access 8 tuners at once (at least in Windows 7).

you mentioned this solved your problem, but I didn't catch what was done to fix it.
I have the same exact issue. turned off firewall and aV and still not working.
my problem stared when I opened my case to reset the bios (had a bios issue) and to get to the system, I had to remove the ceton card.
when I reinserted the card and booted, started getting the "no valid cablecard found" error just like you.
car has been working for years and now it seems it's no longer recognized.

I had that something similar. After 4 years. Card would not get OOB lock.

No joy.

I dumped cable TV and went to OTA.
