Hi,
as I already wrote in my other thread, I've got a problem that my database always grows, so I need a way to keep it small. In Windows 7 there was an option "mcupdate.exe - dbgc" which would delete old EPG data from the database. It always worked the way it should. Now in Windows 8, it doesn't work anymore. Is there a way to fix it? I really need it to work.
Any Ideas?
Why does -dbgc not work?

Did you turn off the mcupdate service first?

I had the same issue with a growing .db when I ran dvblink, are there any threads over on the dvblogic forums maybe?
I can't see why the -dbgc garbage collection switch doesn't work in win8.
I'll try to do a test sometime on an old 8mc box.

There are threads, but no solutions.
They messed it up in Windows 8 / Windows 8.1.
It looks for ""mcstore, Version=6.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35"" which is clearly the wrong version. And even after putting it in there, it still crashes.
I looked around and saw that WMC in Windows 10 is the first version for .NET 4.5 instead of .NET 4.0 in Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 and maybe they fixed it. Would be nice.
