Media Center database growing!

#1

Post by Tourniquet » Tue Jun 02, 2015 11:29 pm

Hi,
I'm using Windows 8.1 + Media Center and DVBLink. My Problem with all my PCs is, that the media center database is growing until it doesnt start anymore and crashes only.
Is there anything to fix it?

I also have one client without DVBLink, but the database still grows.

I've this problem ever since Windows 7 Media Center and till now I couldnt fix it.

In Windows 7 there was a good workaround for that:

Code: Select all

C:\Windows\ehome\mcupdate.exe -dbgc -pscn 0
This would shrink the database and delete the unnecessary EPG entries. But this is not working for Windows 8 / Windows 8.1.

Any ideas? :(

Sorry, I've used WMC for years and never had this problem. Sounds like a bug in DVBLink's MC Guide services to me. Can you get any support from DVBLogic?

I thought so too at first, but a friend of mine also uses WMC without DVBLink and got the same problem!

sounds like some of the items on the Task Scheduler that are related to WMC may have gotten corrupted or deleted. On my systems mcupdate is set to run daily @6:00pm (the tasks were created by the WMC installation and not by me manually)...
