My i3 Clarkdale has never exhibited the problem to me visually.

Nor has any XBox.

It could be that I've never had such programming, but I doubt it.

ok I understand about the 29 59 issue at hand and came to grips with it a long time ago that it was just something I was going to have to live with. So I'm guessing that the answer to my original question is a no. A video processor will not help me out.

AMD doesn't do a better job of covering up the 29/59 issue because it can't be covered up. 29/59 content effectively issues a command to the GPU to not do stuff (e.g., "don't deinterlace this frame").

For the longest time, the only thing anybody would complain about WRT 29/59 was stuttering, and there were more AMD GPUs that were known to play smoothly than any other manufacturer. We used to have a list when WEC still existed, but that is gone now. Additionally, as I understand it, both Intel and NVIDIA GPUs require changes to the OOTB settings to get smooth and flicker-free playback, but I think AMD doesn't require those changes. I could be wrong on that one. On top of all that, AMD has made some GPUs that were highly praised for their deinterlacing performance (which obviously doesn't matter when the GPU is told not to deinterlace).

Personally I don't like to say that one GPU manufacturer is better than another. Every GPU is different, and all three manufacturers have a mixture of low, medium, and high quality GPUs.

The only way to fix it is to examine every frame manually, determine what the flag should be, and then set the flag to its correct value. If you're talking about 1080i content, that's a minimum of ~30 pictures to review for each second of video. But even if you do that, it is very common for editors to overlay interlaced content on a progressive frame (e.g., logos) or vice versa, so you'll never get it 100% correct.

Maybe you guys can help me out with another issue I was having when using the pc directly connected to tv. This is why I switched to using an extender the video and audio on certain channels was dropping when switching to commercial.
