I think we need to see all the logs. The code section is likely the best place to post them.
Either myself or others are going to suggest changes to the configuration of your router. When you try them, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. You really should check out page 170 before we get started and backup your current configuration, so that if something bad happens you can always return to how it is now.

ok, i went into the security log and under settings i checked all the boxes for logging. Then I turned on the xbox and connected to the htpc. the log i have here was durring that time. the xbox disconnected and reconnected on its own 2-3 times while sitting on the blue main screen.
Also I went to the configuration file and saved a backup on my hard drive.
Code: Select all

What is the IP address of the Xbox that connected and disconnected 2-3 times?
Also exactly what time was it when this happened?
Can you confirm the routers time is correct?

I don't know the exact times. I do know the last time I heard it I immediately hit refresh on the log then saved it. So the top entries would have been related to the last time it happened.Crash2009 wrote:Also exactly what time was it when this happened?
I did confirm that the router time is correct.Crash2009 wrote:Can you confirm the routers time is correct?

I wonder why we don't see 154 in either of the 2 logs you posted. Have a look in the other 4 logs for any signs of 192.168.1.154 Post the code if you find something.
Here is something that might actually "do" something. Enable UPnP. Click apply, and test xbox again. Check logs for any .154 activity.

There are around 5 different kinds of common xbox disconnect-reconnects. Which one are you experiencing? Can you elaborate what you are seeing?

The ones you mentioned here are not the problem from what I can tell. The disconnect I am experiencing is strictly in Media Center. I turn on the Xbox and then on my remote I hit the green Media Center button. At this point the Xbox connects to the HTPC and brings up the main screen. From here I can watch live tv, watch a recorded show, etc.. I don't have any problem unless I am watching a show either live or recorded and I pause it. If I leave it on pause for any amount of time other than a few seconds the Xbox looses it's connection and then reconnects on it's own.Crash2009 wrote:There are around 5 different kinds of common xbox disconnect-reconnects. If I leave the xbox on the main blue Media Center screen for about 3 or 4 minutes, it also will disconnect and reconnect.

Well that changes things a bit. Xbox will only stay paused for 3 minutes when watching Live or Recorded TV through WMC? Am I finally understanding the problem? Sorry for starting out in the wrong direction.

That is correct. I timed it last night. I was watching live TV and I hit pause and after 2 minutes 52 seconds I got a connection failure screen that looks like this:Crash2009 wrote:Well that changes things a bit. If I am watching live or recorded TV and hit pause, once this screen appears I have to hit the reconnect button. If I am on the main screen and not doing anything, after the three minutes this screen appears and then it will reconnect on it's own.
If I leave the room I can hear it constantly reconnecting every 3 minutes or so.

Looks like that sends us back to the router.
Two ways to go after this would be to:
Assign the Xbox a static address
It’s in Console or System Settings – Network settings. The exact menu options will depend on the version of your Xbox.

or
Register the Xbox's IP with the routers DHCP server
Lookup DHCP Server in the manual

Ok I was able to set up Static IP address for the Xbox and I believe I registered it with the router. I had to set the router first then the xbox to get it to work. Just to make sure I did it right here is what I did.
In the router I went to
Advanced > IP Address Distribution > Connection List >
Here I found the IP address to the Xbox and clicked on it. That opened up a new screen, where I was able to change the host name, ip address, mac address. I changed the ip address to one not already used. I then checked the box for the option to make the lease static.
I then went to the xbox and set up the wired connection manually.
I was able to connect and all was good. Then the disconnect issue reared its ugly head again. The same exact thing keeps happening.
After all of this I checked all the logs and found nothing with the new IP address in it or the old one for that matter.
In the router I went to
Advanced > IP Address Distribution > Connection List >

I opened the router and looked, the ip is changed and is static. I then powered everything down and then back up in the order you told me too.
I then started the timer and three minutes later the same problem showed itself.
