WHS and infiniTV4 PCIe

#1

Post by redefsen » Sun Feb 15, 2015 9:09 pm

I am trying to consolidate my Home server and Infinitv4 to use a compact pc running Win7 in my living room. I have followed the instructions in older posts to configure the WHS. When I go to set the card to DHCP it hangs and does not do anything. I have installed the latest Software drivers. I have updated the firmware on the card also to one of the latest pre beta versions. Any assistance would be appreciated.

What do you mean by that? Set the card to use it's own DHCP server or a different one. If a different one, which one?

It sounds like step 7 of step 5 "Installation on Host without WMC (WHS 2011, Server 2008 R2, etc.)" is what he's referring to...

AH HA, thanks, that's exactly what I was getting at.

redefsen, When it hangs are you setting it to Client or Server or Static?

It will hang if I do either one. Maybe I am overlooking something. If my network is in the 192.168.1.1 range, do I have to assign a static ip in 192.168.2.1?

No, If your router is 192.168.1.1, You would set the tuner to the same 192.168.1.???. Make sure the net mask (255.255.255.0 )is the same as the router. I wouldn't use 192.168.1.2 (save those lower numbers for wireless access points or other routers)

Either one? There are 3 choices.

On the guide from missing remote http://www.missingremote.com/guide/ceto ... ltiple-pcs

On step 6 I uncheck the box for default IP settings then try to assign a static IP or set it to DHCP it will hang at that point.

One other thing that I noticed, the ceton driver listed in the diagnostic tool is 1.0.2.6. where the guide lists the Ceton InfiniTV Driver: 1.1.0.8 or higher to be installed on host and client PCs.

Sounds like you might need to recheck

Minimum Requirements
1.Ceton InfiniTV Driver: 1.1.0.8 or higher installed on host and client PCs
2.Ceton InfiniTV Firmware: 1.0.3.4 or higher installed on host PC InfiniTV 4
3.Ceton InfiniTV Hardware: 4790 or higher installed on host PC InfiniTV 4
4.The WMC Digital Cable Advisor (DCA) has been performed on each host and client system.
5.Each host and client system should meet the minimum requirements set forth by Ceton.

Though you may need to update, what do you mean by hang... as step 6 is only unchecking the automatic box (there is no way this should cause a hang on its own yet)... step 7 is choosing the new address (or dhcp client)- again should not cause it to hang... step 8 is clicking the set network button and has an important note that to me sounds like you are missing as it is supposed to "hang" at that point...

Open up the router and confirm that the IP you want to use for the tuner is available and not in use by another device.

This is what makes me think it is a software issue. This happens after a clean build with no updates. I am going to try to rebuild and run the service pack for 2008r2. if I build the system and run all the updates from windows update, The network config page on the infinitv all of the config boxes are shaded out.

I have managed to succeed in getting the card brigded and I can see it from my laptop. I think that IE was the issue. I installed firefox and was able to configure the network settings on the ceton card webpage.

Thanks to everyone that assisted.
