Crash on starting My Media Center Config

Hi,

I can't seem to start My Media Center Config. This started happened immediately after installing ceton_my_media_center_setup_w7_13_02_26_1062.exe - I haven't been able to configure it.

How can I debug this?

Ceton lists this forum as the official place for 'support', do they even read this? I paid $ for an app that I can't use...

Hi, I assume that you have sp1 installed as well as .net 4.0?

Have you tried an uninstall>reboot>reinstall just in case?

Could be an issue with the .net 4.0 install: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... n&id=17851

Make sure you run as admin?

Grab Logs:
Start->Run
Type in: %TEMP%
Look for: CetonMyMediaCenterConfigError.txt

It's Windows 7 SP1 w/ .NET 4.5 and all updates installed.

'Run as Administrator' (and UAC is disabled anyways), still broken.

Was this a dev machine with early version of 4.5? Have you tried installing the 4.0 redistributable i listed?

You can try a minidup I am not sure if it will provide me with much info. It is a .net runtime conflict from what I can tell.

Thanks for helping out Motz.

The machine was on 4.0 (with all current patches) when I made the original post. Running the link you provided just gave me the option to repair, which I did. Repair didn't fix the problem. Afterwards, I just upgraded to 4.5 today and the problem persists.

I don't believe this had any pre-release 4.0 stuff on it.

Any other ideas?

Sorry to bump a very old thread, but this describes the exact issue I am having on my WMC7 x64 box (actually it's a virtual machine on my ESXi server). The biggest problem is I have no idea when the problem started. I know it hasn't been working for over a year, but I haven't been using the program for a couple years, so I don't know what could have happened to cause this or when.

Doesn't matter if I run as administrator or not. It also doesn't matter what version I use--so far I've tried 13.02.26.1062, 13.10.20.0199, 13.11.29.1381, and 14.02.20.0821.

Following motz's suggestions in the thread I have already tried uninstalling My Media Center, uninstalling .net 4.5, rebooting, reinstalling .net 4 from the link he posted, and then reinstalling the latest version of My Media Center (ceton_my_media_center_setup_w7_14_02_20_0821). Unfortunately there was no change.

Is there any other way I can troubleshoot this? I don't have the time to wipe the machine and reinstall everything.

I wondered if there is perhaps some corrupted program data being saved even when I uninstall/reinstall the program. Is the C:\ProgramData\Ceton\CData\CData config file the only place where My Media Center settings are stored? I tried deleting that file and letting it be re-created but it made no difference--the configuration program still crashes.
