Refrigerator and Linksys DMA2200?

#1

Post by mmurley » Thu Dec 11, 2014 5:28 pm

I want to put my new-to-me Linksys DMA 2200 on my kitchen TV.

The TV is a 32" Viore mounted on a ceiling mount (this one actually -http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007Z ... UTF8&psc=1).

The TV is over the refrigerator. Nice flat place to put the DMA 2200. ut when I put it there, it loses connection to the wireless network. RF interference from the refrigerator?

Does it actually work via wireless reliably? Run an ethernet wire to the extender, or you will be having issues even without the refrigerator interference.

Edit: For kitchen duty, DMA 2100 is better suited, since it is smaller (no DVD player), and can be mounted on the back of the TV.

No, it won't even work via wireless reliably when I set it up right next to my wireless router! (I just tried). I trying powerline right now. The problem is that that area only has one outlet and the 6 plug Belkin surge protector apparently reduces the XAV101 200 Mbps down to 11-15 Mbps.

Later I will try it without the surge protector.

The DMA 2200 worked great set up at my computer desk connected right to the router and to the HDMI on my desk display.

Eventually I will run CAT 5 to that location.

Everything is working over powerline (two Netgear XAV-101 v1s I had lying around). Only getting about 65 Mbps, but it seems to be good (other than the typical WMC shenanigans).
