Is there a Airplay plugin for MC?
If yes, does it work well? How is the picture quality as compared to a receiver with airplay?

There is not an AirPlay plugin per say but I have been using air server with great success for awhile now.
It is very stable and passes the wAf test. For video it takes control of the screen whenever content is being mirrored and then returns the screen to whatever application was running before which in my case is always WMC.
It runs as a tray application.
