WMC locks up when watching a show currently recording

I'm getting a strange issue where if I watch a program that is currently recording about 20 mins in it starts to freeze and locks up...
I have to close wmc (sometimes even reboot) to get things back to normal.
I've done a checkdisk all fine, tried other tv programs (DVBViewer etc) no problem...
I've a core i5 (haswell) and 16gb ram so plenty of overhead. Looks like this could be where I move to mediaportal I've no idea what's going on???
Any ideas...
