"Keep until" broken by editing file

Hi all

I'm having a problem where commercial-cut files that retain their metadata and exact filename are no longer managed by the WMC "keep until" and other freshness/disk options.
These files stay in the library, are not moved to videos, are in the original recorded tv directory and retain the metadata.

Does anyone know how I can work around this and re-activate the management feature of WMC?
