InfiniTV 6 ETH Tuning Speed

#1

Post by jerky33 » Thu Jul 24, 2014 2:46 am

Does anybody know if there are any performance improvements between the original model InfiniTV 4 PCIe (Link to Image below) vs. the InfiniTV 6 ETH?
I also have a old external ATI DCT up and running too that I notice tunes channels in about 1 sec versus about 3 seconds with my InfiniTV 4.

The model InfiniTV 4 I have is the one prior to the redesign that reduced the number of PCB's that comprised the card as well as other minor changes.

Update:
Also does the use of a tuning adapter impact tuning times?
Comcast in my area does not require them so I'm not sure if someone using a 6 ETH with a tuning adapter is an apples to apples comparison.

Is there a ballpark tuning speed for InfiniTV 6 ETH without a tuning adapter?

With my Silicondust HD HomeRun PRIME tuners, it takes 1-3 seconds to tune channels. It doesn't seem to matter if they are SDV channels or not. I have Tuning Adapters.

I'm currently on Comcast with no TA and it's 1-3 seconds. When I had Charter with a TA it's about 5 seconds.

Good 6 ETH feedback in the thread below, sounds like with decent PC and Network performance and no TA's that the expected tuning speed can be on-par with the 4 PCIe.

I think 1-3 seconds is very good. It used to be 5-10 when I had an InfiniTV4 PCIe.

Agreed, I was just hoping it might happen to have the tuning speed of the old ATI tuner which I'm seeing right now is between less than 1 second and 2 seconds (without TA).
