While using Windows Media Center on my Win7 32 Ultimate machine, EHShell.exe keeps crashing. This typically occurs while watching a video, but sometimes also while watching recorded TV, or even just sitting idle. I have tried updating my video drivers, BIOS, and codecs. The crash persists. The crash log is always the same:

The "System.ArgumentException" would imply to me a .NET failure of some sort, but I have no extensions installed, and other than the codec (CCCP latest 2014-04-20) the system has nothing else installed other than drivers for the video card, tuner, and audio... and of course all the latest MSFT patches which are also all up to date. The only thing this system is/does is live as a media center machine in the living room. This has gotten so bad of late that it's crashing about once every 10-15 minutes making it nearly completely unusable.
The machine has been in use for years, and the frequency of crashes has been seeming to increase from once every few weeks now to 20-30 times a day.
Ay ideas on how to troubleshoot this further or resolve this would be GREATLY appreciated.

A quick Google returns http://www.howtogeek.com/forum/topic/pr ... ?replies=8. Have you tried any of those suggestions?
Another hit suggests that missing fonts can cause this (not specific to WMC): http://opendentalsoft.com/forum/viewtop ... f=3&t=4261

The ultimate suggestion there is re-install. I have not tried a nuke and pave, no. It seems that the crash is related to mscorlib. The 5265d021 signature line looks like it's the specific point of interest, but I'm unable to find any other crashlogs with ideas as to how to resolve it at that specific address. There are lots of crash logs at other signature points, with lots of various solutions, but none of them are specific to the crash I'm experiencing...smcmillan2 wrote:A quick Google returns http://www.howtogeek.com/forum/topic/pr ... ?replies=8. I suspect this might be because of recent updates, but I'm unsure as to which one it might have been. I'm keenly interested as to how I might troubleshoot the specific crash further, to further identify the culprit, but short of attaching a debugger to the process and waiting for a crash to occur again, I don't really know how else to debug it further.
