Volume indicator shows up when WMC launches
All of a sudden when I launch WMC I see the volume indicator shows up on screen for a brief moment. This was not the case before so I am wondering why all of a sudden this is happening. I use a receiver and I do not use the WMC volume at all. I also notice that the indicator shows up randomly like if I go to the guide.
Is this normal? Why is it randomly showing up? This does not happen in Windows 8.

I am pretty sure all of mine have always done that.

Ok good to know. Didn't do it all the time for me but no big deal.

Yeah - it used to bug me since we only use the MCE based volume control on 1 of the HTPCs in the house - so I didn't ever want to see the "50" pop up in the corner on the other TVs... I think I stopped noticing until I looked again last night - now I'll probably notice for a few weeks again!

You should set it between 25 and 30, not 50. That way, content with 2-channel audio will be about the same volume as those with 5.1 channel audio. It affects the volume of fast-forward speed 1 too.Doctor Feelgood wrote:so I didn't ever want to see the "50" pop up in the corner

The TVs where it is 50 are pretty basic setups which use HDMI straight from the PC to the TV with 2 built-in speakers. PC audio settings are fixed (speaker configuration, noise leveling, etc), and I have never had a problem. One HTPC does have it at 25, simply because anything more is too loud for late night watching, even when the TV volume is set to anything above 2. The one where we use the HTPC sound is the only one set up to use 5.1 .barnabas1969 wrote:You should set it between 25 and 30, not 50. I meant for the PC that is connected to an AVR. For PC's that are connected directly to a TV, I don't think it matters.
