My Media Center v 1.3.6.1 Android 4.4

I am not yet sure if this is related to 4.4 or just ART since I have only one device on 4.4 and ART is enabled. As soon as the app launches, it crashes without a "report" option. When my tablet gets upgraded to 4.4, I will leave it in Dalvik and retest.

In the meantime, can someone confirm if this is a 4.4 issue or just an ART issue?

I just put 4.4 on my Nexus 7 and left it in Dalvik and it works so the issue seems to be with ART only.

Is that going to be a long-term issue?

ART is currently not supported by a lot of apps and it is more for developers only at this point which is why they pop up that dialog saying it might break stuff. I recommend leaving in the Dalvik unless you are a developer at this point in time.

Are there any updates planned for this app or has it essentially been abandoned? Any chance of seeing the code go open source?

Motz (James Montemagno) is the one who wrote the phone/tablet apps. He no longer works for Ceton, so I doubt that we'll see any improvements to the apps any time soon (if ever). And, I really doubt that it would go open-source... they make money from this product even without updating it.

I knew James had left to join Xamarin. It's disappointing that his legacy hasn't been picked up for further development. There must be interest within the community for updates? Could we "petition" Ceton?

Yeah, good luck with that. Ceton seems to have become a hermit of a company.
