Can't play protected content
Can laptops not play protected content from a cable card? My HP Envy 17t cannot play copy once channels and my MS Surface Pro 2 has the same problem. All drivers are up to date.

Likely the devices use Display Port internally which don't mix with WMC and HDCP.

But the laptop's internal display panel may connect to the motherboard via DisplayPort.

Sometimes the internal display is connected another way but the manufacturer chose to use a non-HDCP capable display as WMC is the only thing that requires it as internal displays are usually given exemption by the other things that require hdcp.
I believe it had been determined in the case of the surface 2 it was a displayport issue... I am not sure on the envy but usually an hdmi connected external display will work as long as you are not cloning the monitor.
