I never ran the diagnostics to see the missing vertical line, but when tzr916 was posting about the poor PQ, I definitely paid attention to the picture. The only artifact I can see is moire on thin diagonal stripes, like when someone wears a neck tie with thin stripes. But, they don't do that often... I only see it on guests who appear on the news and talk shows. I think that people who work in the TV industry avoid such clothing.

I wonder if it's possible that my TV just does a better job of processing the "bad" image that comes from Media Center? It's a high-end TV, so I suppose it's possible. My bedroom TV's are cheapies, but I'm not going to see any problems on a 32" TV from my bed, where my head is 13 feet from the TV.
