Change Background Image
I'd like to change media center's background image. I see a lot of tutorials online saying to use media center studio for that but also some saying it is no longer working. Anyone know what the simplest way to change the background is? I'm not really trying to put a whole new theme in just change the image.

Is that the only option right now? Seems a bit expensive just to change a background image.

Not the only option, but the other method requires a bit of mucking around inside the user folders (I have done it before for a background switch to black that was more subtle than the option in WMC) and the easy install for that chance is found here http://www.hack7mc.com/2009/04/astrotoy ... enter.htmlstangdaman wrote:Is that the only option right now? As far as MCE Reset Toolbox, I don't think it is that expensive and you could download just the Lite version. Also on top of allowing you to do the change yourself it provides MANY other cool options (changing the media strip, changing icons, modifying entry points, modifying guide information and look, adding images to the guide (like the NBC, CBS logos etc) But it is well worth the money and you might end up finding yourself making more changes than you originally had thought you would!
Also it allows you to use the older themes that are on the internet with relative ease (as shown here http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/17860/ad ... ia-center/) and as shown here ( http://www.hack7mc.com/2010/04/media-ce ... dates.html )

Wmc studio absolutely still works at least in windows 7. You need to put it in the correct appdata directory and run it as an admin. The only things that don't stick are menu customizations but there is a fix for that. I use task scheduler to run the fix once a day and at boot up. It works perfectly and its free.

You can still use Media Center Studio http://www.thegreenbutton.tv/forums/vie ... f=9&t=2164 You have to install it and the MCS Fix http://www.hack7mc.com/downloads?did=97stangdaman wrote:Is that the only option right now? Seems a bit expensive just to change a background image.
Are you looking to change the theme of Media Center or just the background image?
If you install Media Center Studio and the fix I have a few themes I saved over the years for use with it available here: http://sdrv.ms/1dcVRjk (The Installer for MCS and the Fix are in a file available here as well)
If you want instructions on how to change the background image shoot me a PM.

You can also edit DLL files to change the background. I did that because the themes didn't work on ceton echo. They work on any other extender but not the echo... Go figure. That is a little more complicated but it works.

Hmm, strange.. I didn't get anything, anyway if you want instructions on changing the background image post here and I'll post some instructions. I'll check my GB.tv settings and make sure my PM's get through. I have gotten a few from STC recently and those were fine, but I'll check my settings to be sure.

It's fine. I got the background changed. It wasn't really all that difficult. Thanks.

I just d/led and bought this toolkit today. Pretty dang slick and integrates several various tools into a single toolkit. Well worth the 10$.
