The OP doesn't have a problem watching live TV. He has a problem recording. Certain Comcast boxes apply copy-protection to the analog outputs, which prevents WMC from recording the content. No amount of plugging/unplugging the box is going to fix that. And neither will buying a different analog tuner. The only way to resolve the issue is to not use the analog outputs on the box.

That explains the "virtual analog experience"richard1980 wrote:The only way to resolve the issue is to not use the analog outputs on the box.

I think the virtual analog experience referenced earlier just indicates that the end-user experience is the same as with analog cable (e.g., you change channels with channel up/down buttons or by entering the channel number directly, as opposed to going through the guide).

totally misread this post and the OP's problem thought he was having issues with a DTA (Digital Adaptor) and watching and recording TV.
I have two DTA's and it took 2 separate attempts to get TV to work on two different HTPC's. Media Center Does not recognize the DTA's the first time u try setup.
But the issue is analog and Media Center recording TV and that doesn't work anymore because of the "Flags" set by the Cable Co.
