FF / RW of Live TV or Recordings causes audio issues

After resuming from rewinding or fast forwarding Live TV or a Recording I get a number of strange issues with the audio. Sometimes the audio will loop over a 1 second sample over and over again for several seconds before finally getting in sync. Sometimes the audio just "mutes itself" and is no longer played while the video continues. Sometimes even the video freezes. When the audio cuts out completely, minimizing Windows Media Center and then maximizing the window again seems to get the audio going again.

I'm at a loss as to what this could be. I'm running a pretty powerful system with 16 GB of RAM, i7-3770S CPU, and GTX 660 GPU. It's a relatively fresh install of Windows 8.1 with MCE. I have NOT installed any 3rd party codec packages like ffdshow or Shark007, but I have installed the Haali media splitter. Are there any things I can try to correct this, even if it's some hail mary regedit. Thanks!
