"Trickmode" for Windows 8 FF Rates

#1

Post by jmlnet » Thu Oct 31, 2013 8:36 pm

I've always assumed that the sped up audio on the first fast forward was a problem with my system. However, I found this post today: http://www.thegreenbutton.tv/forums/vie ... tes#p57846 and realized it's by design. As I hate it, I made the registry changes suggested in that post but it doesn't seem to work on Windows 8. Has anyone got this this working on Windows 8?

Many thanks if you can help.

Did you reboot after making the registry changes?

Along these lines, has anyone been able to get the thumbnail on the seek bar to show? It just doesn't show in Windows 8 for me.

Yes (and I knew I should have edited my post to reflect that! :D )

I'm wondering if the empty string for the "2" value could be causing a problem. Try setting it to something higher than 20. I'd have to check, but I think I have mine set to 50.

I tried setting the "2" value but I'm still hearing the sped up audio first fast forward. Tried 1.5 for "0" as well, without success. Does this work for anyone on windows 8?

Is the PC connected to the TV, or are you using an extender?

The only other thing I can guess is that maybe you need to setup the fast reverse rates key too? I would be surprised if these registry settings don't work on Win8, but I suppose it's possible.
