My Media Center Config program crashes

#1

Post by jyankacy » Mon Oct 21, 2013 4:25 pm

Just upgrade from windows 8.1 preview to the full release. Now when I try to add folder to the library in the My Media Center Config (latest version from the Ceton site x.199) I get 'program crashed' and the following dump file. Please help.

Same here.
Fresh install of Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center
Ceton My Media Center v13_10_20_0199
Crash when trying to add folders to the library (local or network). Crash happens after selecting a folder and click "Select Folder".

[EDIT]
I might have found a solution.
I figured that the configuration file used is located in C:\ProgramData\Ceton\CData and is called cdata.config
I tried to add my movies folders manually in the config file but noticed the file was locked.
I stopped the Yammm service (task manager, services tab, right click on yammmSvc and select stop). Once the service was stopped I could change the file. Actually I went back to the My Media Center config app and was also able to add folders with no crash.
Once I had added all the folders, I restarted the YammmSvc service. Everything now works like a charm.

You can not add a library to the folders list. You must select it directly such as C:\Movies

Also yes you can setup everything from that config file, the UI just presents it. The only thing would be any passwords (for network or the service itself) as they are encrypted when you save it form the UI.

Say again? The mmc configuration GUI says if you have any other local movie files please specify their location. Clicking on Add Folder allows me to browse my local folder and when I select that folder I get the program crashed stack trace message, and booted out of config GUI.
I've added the folder before???

Can you take a snap shot of the folder you are selecting when it crashes?

Also what version are you running and on what OS version?

I am using MyMediaCenter on an iPad 3 to access Media Center on a Windows 8 HTPC. Every thing is working fine except that my movies could not be seen in MyMediaCenter. When I go into the configuration program to specify the movies folder where I have a small number of WTV movie files, the configuration program crashes and directs me to a stack trace file, which I can provide if needed. I have tried several different methods to specify the movie folder without luck. The movie folder I am trying to specify is D:\Movies of the HTPC computer where Windows Media Center runs so there should not be any network nomenclature or password problems. The recorded TV folder of this HTPC is D:\RecordedTV and that folder was detected automatically by MyMediaCenter. The D:\Movies folder is accessed without problem by both Windows Media Center and MediaBrowser (both the Server and Classic). The result of all of this is that none of my movies show up on my iPad when I run MMC. Why is the configuration program crashing and what can I do to specify my movies folder in MyMediaCenter so that my movies will appear in MMC?

Same issue here. Please help!!!

Updated: Got it to not crash finally! Added the line "MovieLibraries"[filepathofmyfolderlocation] into the config file and it worked. Its almost as if the program is too dumb to create the entry into the config file using the UI. Hope this helps.

I tried using the entry you provided without luck (and with only one hash after D: instead of two. Should I enter exactly as you listed? What about the brackets?

Find "MovieLibraries": in the config file. Enter your path to your movies directory, the example above was my path. Use both hashes and the quotes and with the brackets.

What is the correct syntax If my movie folder is found at:
E:My Videos/My Movies

Do I use a "\" or "/" between My Videos and My Movies?

I had the same issue when I installed mine. I just put in a directory listing in the "MovieLibraries" section of the config file, like DigiTechMedia suggested. For me it didn't even have to be my actual movies directory, just a valid directory on my drive. Once I closed and reopened the My Media Center Config program, I was able to add and remove directories as normal. I guess there's a minor error that causes a crash, and manually adding a directory in the config file stops the error.

Since then , haven't had any trouble adding or removing directories in the program.

I'm having the same problem and am trying to add it maually but can't get it to save here's what I've entered.

{"AdditionalFolders":[],"ArtworkQuality":88,"BroadcastEnabled":true,"CacheDuration":10080,"CreateDVDIdFile":true,"CreateDVDPlaceholder":true,"CreatePlaylistsForMultiFileMovies":true,"DVDFolderArt":0,"Devices":[],"DownloadBackdrop":true,"DownloadChannel":3,"DownloadDVDFolderArt":true,"DownloadFileArt":true,"DownloadFolderArt":true,"ExternalPortNumber":0,"HideNonMediaCenterSessions":false,"HidePlaylistMembers":true,"IgnoreNFOFiles":true,"ImageSize":2,"Language":"en","MetadataFiles":1,"MovieLibraries":"I:\\Movies","NetworkPassword":"","NetworkUsername":"","NewMovieFolder":null,"PortNumber":5832,"RenameFiles":true,"RenameFolders":true,"SaveOriginal":false,"ScanRecordedTVForMissingMetadata":true,"StripExtrasFromTitle":true,"TVFolderStructure":0,"TelevisionLibaries":[],"ThreadPerProcessor":5,"UPnPForwarding":false,"UseIMDBRating":true,"UseParentFolderNameAsPrimaryGenre":false,"UseSortTitles":true,"UserApiKey":null,"UserApiKeyEnabled":false}

I disabled both the yamm and MMC services thinking that would allow me to save it but still can't save the file. Also, if I wanted to add multiple locations, would I just separate them with a comma within the quotes?

I'm having the same issue on both of my computers, neither one will allow me to add any folders whether net work, local, primary or secondary hard drive files.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Andy

Do a search for "cdata.config" in c drive. I had the same problem and that's how I found it.

You might need to save the file to a different location (try doing a "save as" to your desktop) and then move it to the correct folder.
